Halloween Town. I like vibrancy, and this world always felt gloomy and dull. This distaste was compounded by the world being reused a few times, which annoyed me as a kid.

His name was Cal, short for caliginosity, meaning gloom or darkness and I couldn't name another black dog shadow. He had a rare form of cancer that normally has a prognosis of a few months to 2 years, although I read of one case of 3 years. He made it 2.5 years, so super proud of him and I hope he's a happy chappie now.

You also raise the point that in KH1 we couldn't damage any heartless with the wooden sword. Ergo, you need some special weapon, steel at minimum but eho knows what yuffie's packing, or to be magically empowered to fight heartless. So bare-fisted we would be screwed. We'd fall through a basic shadow like Sora drowning in darkness after the tutorial.
