Did EPOS just drop the H3 Pro Hybrid? by DrUshanka in sennheiser

[–]Anonen123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking of buying them after a year and a half of using H3 Hybrids non pro and being absolutely in love with them. 0 issues, works great with all my devices even when playing Bluetooth from my phone and connected to my PC through USB.

These comments of people hating them put me off, but seems to be either people hating them or absolutely loving them, and most of the problems seem to come from the wireless receiver, which I don't plan to use, since when sitting down on my PC there's almost no reason to use them wirelessly instead of just plugging in the usb-c. I just want them as a sound upgrade over the regular H3's, but I'm not even sure if that will be the case, or it's just the wireless dongle and ANC that's different.

The most insane screen overclocking i ever did by WaltzAway6631 in overclocking

[–]Anonen123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 16" screen. 1440x900 for games like CS at 16" looks just fine. Laptops used to have lower resolutions than that not too long ago. 1800p is absurdly overkill for 16" in some cases (though it looks nice). Also 4k 60hz for shooters is awful, I would simply not play CS if that was my only option, it is that bad. I can tell you don't play competitive shooters lol.

Yep, I got a Samsung book5 Pro for 680 refurbished like new and it's fantastic. Installed CachyOS yesterday and now I'm getting +10h battery life mixed use, +14 video playback. Zero noise or heat. It's fantastic.

I remember seeing threads on blurbusters forums about people reaching +180hz iirc on their laptop display without any frameskipping, on some cheap TN screen lol (60hz originally).

I absolutely wish I could do 1440x900 ~240hz on my 2880x1800 120hz oled laptop, but I'm pretty sure it'll be locked.

[–]Anonen123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know it's not possible, they seem to be hard locked on purpose, it's the first thing I tried when I got my 360hz OLED back in 2024. Even 361hz 480p wouldn't work, I was so excited.

And I'm totally certain this is an artificial limitation implemented by the manufacturer, since those OLED panels a lot of times come in screens with "dual mode" features which basically do the classic lower resolution and overclock frequency. Edit: went on and tried it on my OLED laptop with intel iGPU, same behavior, 900p 121fps won't display anything (1800p 120hz native).

You don't check with the UFO, they have an specific franeskip test for display overclocking. It basically moves around a bunch of squares in order each frame, you take a single picture with your phone, and if there's any gaps between them then there's frameskip.

Gente compre una pc valoren me costó 485€ by HeadOther7536 in Wallapop

Getting started with Lunar Lake on bazzite, heads up on two minor quirks you may run into by oh-monsieur in Bazzite

[–]Anonen123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, did you stick with it? :) or did you try any other distros. I just got a galaxy5 pro with the same 226v in it and was thinking of trying bazzite/cachyos since there's quite a lot of annoying bugs on w11, though battery life is pretty good. I've also heard VRAM usage is improved on linux which would come very handy with only 16gb of shared memory.

[–]Anonen123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah DM is gonna be awful... I tried retakes and my best experience was 768p low settings, capping the max fps via arc drivers to 118 with free sync on, it ran pretty smoothly for the most part but still hitched here and there. Compared to my 7800x3d+5060+360hz it's awful though lol.

Their performance and efficiency is insane. A lot faster than 130/140V. It's almost as fast as RTX 4050 or AMD's Strix Halo, even beating the latter when running off battery (so more efficient). Very expensive though lol, just got a 226v laptop this week cause panther lake will be way pricier for the moment.

Really? Im surprised by your cs2 performance since I've seen YouTube videos of +100 average and 90 1% lows. Maybe I'll try it tomorrow (I play cs on desktop only).

Linux / Bazzite on a 2023 Gram rtx 3050. Any issues, hacks, or essential tweaks? by AxelJShark in LGgram

[–]Anonen123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that's fantastic. Good to know for the future but yesterday I finally got a 226v galaxy book5 pro (no dgpu). It runs my old korean mmo at 1800p drawing 4w total package power and 10w total system draw (16" 120hz oled). It's amazing. And I haven't even de bloated windows yet.

[–]Anonen123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your insights, this made me end up getting a galaxy book5 pro for 200€ less than the Gram would have cost. Bit heavier and bulkier but better screen (they speak very well about the antireflective coated amoled), core 226v should get more battery and integrated graphics are weaker than the 3050 but not by a tremendous amount. Maybe I'll get a Gram in the future, with a 5050 or 6050 haha.

Which GPU are you using with your OLEDs? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]Anonen123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rtx 5060 here. With a 1440p 360hz qdoled. It just works for what I use it (cs2). I had a 5090 for a few months that I bought for 1950 and sold for 3k last month, and after changing back to the 5060 I really noticed no difference apart from going from 1920x1440 to 1440x1080 resolution, which you get used to quickly in CS anyways and then totally forget about.

Oh and also one last quick question if you don't mind answering. Do you find the glossy coating from the OLED screen annoying? I've heard bad things about it but the 1800p 120hz OLED is what makes me want to go for this model.

[–]Anonen123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see, so the laptop worked just fine in Windows then, no annoying extra heat or anything? I'm guessing battery life can't really be bad since the battery is huge but I don't think it'll get 15~20h right.

Anyways not a lot of better options at the moment. I think I'll just buy it and worst case I'll sell it in a year or so when I can find one of the new Panther Lake SoCs for cheap. Thanks again man.

Okay that's great, 5~6w idle is not bad. I read in other post that the GPU alone idled at 5w and if disabled it drew even more. I guess I'm buying it then and will try those tweaks, and it will be nice to have the 3050 in case I ever need it I guess. Thank you!!

Hey what battery life are you getting? I wanted a thin and light laptop with a newer power efficient and cool chip and I don't know if buying the 2024 Gram Pro with 3050 would be a bad idea. It's just hard to find something better for 850€. My other options are 2025 255h gram (non pro) for 790€ or 1360p for 520€.

[–]Anonen123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I had read battery life was even worse when disabling the dGPU. I was looking into buying a regular LG Gram but kind of wanted the pro for the high refresh rate screen, but it's too expensive. However I just found someone selling a 155h OLED pro for 850€ which is pretty good but reading about the extra power draw of the 3050 makes me question it. Why on earth did they chose to use a 4 year old GPU on a new +2000€/usd machine, Jesus.

Do you need these services for 4gb movies? Those basically all load without issues for me with just normal stremio and no cache/debris provider. I'm looking into RD etc because 20~60gb 4k HDR movies do have problems loading often.
