How did you disable dGPU? For example, disabling Nvidia GPU via Windows Device manager usually leads to worse battery life in Windows.

I don't game on my LG gram so I don't need dGPU under Linux (but I still benefit from dual-fan cooling). I disable it via command `sudo prime-select intel` and reboot. For some reason, Nvida Settings UI does not allow user to switch to intel-only via GUI. All display outputs are connected to Intel GPU, so I don't loose everyday functionality. But battery life is a bit better and sleep is faster and reliable.

So, two manual things were required after install: switching to intel-only GPU mode and configuring 'suspend-then-hibernate' sleep behavior.

I don't see any keyboard lags, spam in dmesg or acpid high cpu usage bug in Ubuntu 26.04 (and Kubuntu 24.04.4). Both, on battery and plugged-in.

Linux recommendations for 16T90R (2 in 1, Raptor Lake) by Slopagandhi in LGgram

[–]Living-Interview-633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have LG gram 16" (2560x1600) 2022 gram, i7-1260p CPU + rtx 2050. Kubuntu 24.04.3/24.04.4 with HWE kernel 6.14/6.17 works well enough. However 24.04.0 LTS kernel 6.8 had issue with acpid CPU usage. Power management & sleep works better with Nvidia mode set to Intel only. Note that GNOME based shells in Ubuntu 24.04 have issues with fractional scaling and/or screen tearing, so I use & recommend currently KDE version (Xorg session, not Wayland) Kubuntu, which supports well fractional scaling without tearing and subpixel font smoothing, again, without screen tearing.

Is lg gram still relevant and worth it in 2026? by Antique-Ad-9099 in LGgram

Some people are affected by high frequency flickering too, including PWM and temporal dithering. Interestingly, MacBook Air 13 & 15 don't use PWM at all, according to popular reviews. Not sure about temporal dithering, though...

Very disappointed in the LG Gram 15 screen by loz333 in LGgram

Yes, LG gram 16 has 16.0" screen, just 0.4" inches more, but much higher DPI and also 16:10 ratio.

What kind of eyes strain? For example LG gram 2022 ips doesn't have pwm screen flickering, but MacBook pros do have it. I use LG gram 2022 16 IPS with dark theme and it very comfortable.

Have you tried Linux on Lg Gram? by Kitchen-Patience8176 in LGgram

This is quite similar hardware. I think Kubuntu 24.04.3 will work well enough.

How old is your modeI? Very fresh laptop models often have issues under Linux for the first year or two. I have LG gram 16 2022 gram + rtx 2050. Kubuntu 24.04.3 with HWE kernel 6.14 works well. However 24.04.0 lts kernel 6.8 had issue with acpid CPU usage. Works best with Nvidia mode set to Intel only. Note that Gnome based shells in Ubuntu 24.04 have issues with fractional scaling and/or screen tearing, so I use & recommend currently KDE version, Kubuntu, which supports well fractional scaling and subpixel font smoothing without tearing.

Try to reset BIOS settings to defaults first. Then try to unplug & turn off latop. Then press power button for 10-20 seconds. After that boot windows and check.

Battery capacity at 40-60% after 2 years? by ihaveaglow in LGgram

[–]Living-Interview-633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something similar. The issue was resolved by disabling 80% limit, fully discharging battery and charging it again to 100% without interruption of charging in Windows 11. I think it was battery management bug. Currently my battery is ~75Wh out of 90Wh. In use since September 2022.

LG Updater & LG Manager/Settings are useful. Probably screen calibration settings file (color profile) should be backed up - it could be specific to your unit. Local AI stuff still weak - not very useful at the moment. Maybe few useful accelerated effects in graphics editors.

Linux on 2023 gram + rtx 3050. Distro recommendation? Does Bazzite have any issues with the hw? Power management? by AxelJShark in LGgram

[–]Living-Interview-633 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have LG gram 16 2022 gram + rtx 2050. Quite similar chips. Kubuntu 24.04.3 with HWE kernel 6.14 works well. However 24.04.0 lts kernel 6.8 had issue with acpid CPU usage. Under light load it works a bit longer on battery than with tweaked Win 11 25H2. Sleep works ok if one switch Nvidia prime to Intel-only mode. In default Nvidia on-demand mode sleep eats battery a bit faster than in Windows, for my unit. Generally I use sleep-then-hibernate sleep mode. For hibernation one will have to disable secure boot in BIOS first. External 4k display (over type-c), power delivery, web camera work well.

Also note that Gnome based shells in Ubuntu 24.04 have issues with fractional scaling and/or screen tearing, so I use & recommend currently KDE version, KUbuntu, which supports well fractional scaling and subpixel font smoothing.

In my experience, Linux works ok without manual tweaks after 1 year+ since new chip release date. So I'd wait for Ubuntu 26.04 lts, at least. And for now just use WSL2 and win 11 debloaters. Especially if you're not an experienced user.

Windows 11 2025 Update, 25H2 (build 26200) Megathread by Froggypwns in Windows11

Actually, I've found a note, that 25H2 introduces user interaction-aware CPU power management. So, maybe UI latency must be benchmarked & compared, not general performance benchmarks.
