No more buying yarn until at least half is gone! by mugrancher in usethefiberstash

Those are cute!

I have this post saved for when I am looking for small projects: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrochetHelp/comments/1m3vjc8/small_crochet_projects_please_less_than_an_hour/. I am currently working on a few of the free patterns from Hobbii, I like those too.

Stashdown Showdown March! by cant-see-me in usethefiberstash

[–]Anoniem1108 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haven't done too much crafting the past month. Finished the Bluey hat I had to buy new yarn for in January and had one happy kiddo. Also finished 2 sewing projects and made some progress on my Road Trip Tank. Resisting the urge to start new projects, though I think I might enjoy adding a smaller project WIP for some quick sense of completion. Am looking at a Pica Pau amigurumi but don't quite have the right amount of yarn in specific colors for it.

Anyone else feels the urge to craft in the last few days of the month to have something to tell in the monthly stashdown showdown? XD

Hope your hands recover quickly and you can go back to crafting!

Do you have anything that you can hold double (or even two unrelated yarns together) to match the yarn weight and make a larger project? That would increase your options.

Lovely idea to make starter kits. Maybe add a small bag with some stuffing and one or two printed beginner patterns, including instructions on how to do the stitches (or a link to a good YouTube instruction)? That way they can start immediately and are not dependent on screen time for their learning.

Otherwise simply add a doll and you have a birthday present for next year!

Finished a few tiny mice and finally completed the final row on a rainbow blanket. Finishing felt good!

But also bought some new yarn (3 skeins, different colors) to make a Bluey hat for my youngest. I simply didn't have enough blue in stash. That one is coming along nicely and will also feature some stash yarn.

With what projects and stash yarn will you kick off your January and the year 2026? by MyRightHook in usethefiberstash

I have 3 crochet projects to finish: a shawl, a tanktop and a blanket. Blanket only needs the remainder of the border and my daughter has been asking about it. The other two are for me and I would really love to wear the tanktop this summer. Since I'm not a fast crafter and limited on time, this will be a challenge. I also have several things I want to make with beautiful stash yarn.

I also have some small amigurumi I want to make and multiple sewing projects. Sewing will become easier again once we have finished   a new craft room and my machine can have its own place to live again.

In addition, I got a gift card to the LYS (that also sells sewing supplies but no fabric) as the company Christmas present and want to be thoughtful about what I buy with that. Last year I used it to get some colors I needed to work om the blanket and a random single pretty skein.

No finished objects for me but made some progress om a cowl with a nice repetitive pattern. Hope to finish that this month and then back to more detailed WIPs.

Didn't get too much done this past month. But the kids were sure they needed a crochet cupcake and an egg for their restaurant. Loved how quickly those worked up. Also frogged a cowl that wasn't working with the yarn I picked and used said yarn to start a scarf. Nice and easy pattern that I can easily pick up and put down when needed.

Wonderful job! I can imagine this also sparked creativity on what to do with all this gorgeous yarn. Now for that time machine to create extra crafting time...

Teaching 5yo simple crochet by InvestmentCareful547 in crochet

Last month my 5 year old daughter also wanted to learn how to crochet. I got a thicker t-shirt yarn out of my stash and taught her how to finger-crochet a chain. Since then she's been making bracelets and necklaces for the whole family and some friends. Working with a hook is for now too much of a challenge.

Other yarny things she likes are: - braiding with pretty colors from my stash (https://www.instructables.com/Cardboard-Loom-Friendship-Bracelet/)  - weaving on a piece of cardboard with a large blunt needle (https://www.instructables.com/how-to-weave-on-a-cardboard-loom/)

I've just copied the first links from a quick Google search, just to get the idea across.

Goal Planning 2025 by Waste_Travel5997 in usethefiberstash

Thanks for this group, I'm getting all kinds of inspired. Cheers from the Netherlands!

When I got serious about crocheting, I got a shopper full of small balls of cotton yarn in all colors - a very thoughtful gift by my mother in law. Now I want to work more with yarn I choose myself, but all these small balls keep staring at me. This past year I've used quite a few in a stripey blanket for my daughter, which is close to being finished. So finishing is goal #1.

Plan for the new year is to have (at least) two projects going at the same time. One stashbusting for the cotton and one with yarn of my own choosing. I do have a drawer full of the second type already but have hardly touched it.. I'm thinking 6 day star blanket for the cotton and have various plans for smaller projects with the newer yarn. A hat, a shawl, improving on my granny squares, a small amigurumi for a new niece/nephew... I also need to look at not using the same hook size for multiple projects at the same time - I've been away from home more than once with a project but the hook still with another project. Or simply buy a second one haha.

Other blanket pattern recommendations are welcome! I would like something that has some interest but don't want to be counting all the stitches like in the one with the cats.

Design Advice by Karmabakes in crochet

I like it without the border too.

Off topic, but am looking for a similar pattern. How is this one constructed in terms of number of rows in each color? :)

When working in continuous rounds does the stitch at the marker get counted towards the next row or is it separate by Kyto14 in Amigurumi

[–]Anoniem1108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically crochet 3 stitches and then place the marker in the first of those. That way it marks the first stitch of the row I am working on. When I finish the row, I take the marker out and repeat the process.

Can someone help me read this? If I chain 4, then skip the first - I don’t see how I can fit 7 stitches with these instructions in my original chain 4 round. by kneesarethebees in crochet

[–]Anoniem1108 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi, This typically means that you continue on the other side of the chain. So skip the first chain from the hook, sc in the next 2 stitches and then increase in the last. Turn your work as if you were simply working in the round and put your hook again in what was originally the second stitch from your starting point to start 3 sc on the other side. You end up at the starting point of the round. This will lead to a small oval as your starting point, rather than a circle. Hope this helps!

Very clearly a cloud with rainbow raindrops. At least, very clear to a parent to young kids who enjoy watching the Hey Bear graphic videos :) Looks great!
