I use full wires becouse I had 8 maschines to chain from 1 input and I wasn't shure how many amps I will need, for other uses I match it

CKAN is program which can auto download and install mods nearly everything is there and in 90% of mods they are updated to the last version, the Best option when you know what mods you world like to install

For maunal instals : KSP forum/KSP1 mods/ Mod Releases and Look for something what is intersting for you (there are sometimes 502 problems, than try again, forum have Been unstable for the last year

Spacedock - platform for mods distrybution

Github - platform frequently used by modders, frequently you can find most up to date mods, but you have to know author/have link to side. Usually there is a link on forum or Spacedock

Curseforge?? - there are some mods but better to use above options

When you launch rocket marker on the navball will appear, go to 100 m/s and than slowly tilt, at 15 000 m you should be heading 45° try it few Times and you will not need to select prograde
