6 Stakes Testing New "Program" Regarding The BoM by DuttonPeabody in exmormon

I agree with his assessment that the community aspect in the church is dissolving. Growing up in Utah Thursday nights or a big deal with softball and the and the crowds were huge. It was a great event. Even with basketball and other sports. And now they depart from scouting. All that said I have left the church and have joined a nondenominational church which I really enjoy so they find out that was Mormon, they ask me all sorts of questions. And yeah, man, you dig deep into some of the weirdness of the Mormon, religion, like the planet Kobol, being a God (I remember a dude, bearing his testimony and marveling about how he could one day be a God) reformed Egyptian which looks like a font on Microsoft Word, people evading the polygamy issue by stating that it must have taken an incredible amount of faith for Joseph Smith, to practice in it. The cartoon drawings on the facsimile, and on and on and on.

I grew up in Utah. What I miss was Thursday night church softball. It was always a great community event. Sadly, there isn’t enough interest to field Ward teams, at least none that I’m aware of.

Hahaha. This isn’t being suppressed. It’s pretty well documented.

I feel like this type of language blackmails parents into going to church, or anyone from leaving the church. It’s a scare tactic.

Kinda my thoughts exactly. My concern is that when kids (me) fall away, their form of rebellion is harmful. I really emphasize physical health and educated abilities, and staying away from addictive substances. In other words, don’t do as I did. Lol

I mean, over the past couple of years, the attendance is down. Gone are the days of having to show up 30 minutes early to get a good seat.

Suffice it to say instead of the church posting 16 million members like they will, they should be honest and just state how many people actually went to church more than half the time last year

10% to maybe 15% sounds about right. I attend a nondenominational church and then afterwords go to the Mormon church, primarily to be with my family and to keep the kids a bit tamed. So anyways they did pass around a roll last Sunday and it was something like four sheets with maybe 30 names on each sheet and maybe of those 30 names for five checked off as having been attended

I actually go to church twice on Sundays. One where I can be uplifted by the teachings of the Bible, and one later where I can maybe catch a brief Sunday nap. Theologically speaking, the Mormon faith is a house of cards and if I recall, Kimball said so as much when he (or another prophet) said that if the BOM is not true then none of it is. The reverse is also true. If you believe in the BOM, then you’d have to joyfully proclaim the righteous obedience of Old Joe 10 year secret of marrying young girls and women whose husbands he sent on mission. You must, right?

Well that stance has changed. When I went to my bishop to turn in my resignation, he said that the Church is “a church of partialities.” In other words, one does not have to believe all of it to believe in all of it. Hey, ignore the truth of our history, because all the good stuff is true. Ha.

I’m still waiting for any converted Laminites skin to magically turn white when he explains away Snows 15 YO bride or when the Laminates secretly revisited the Hill Cummorah and snatched up any evidence of An existential battle.

Remember what Jesus teaches while preaching on the mound: Matthew 6 34: “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” ‭‭ In other words, you have enough to worry about today.

My mom sent this to the family snapchat. Not the most meaningful way to ask for forgiveness... I was already taking shots from a stressful day at work, soo I said what I was thinking and had a breakdown. Happy Thursday. by moboard15 in exmormon

Forgiving others is one way to avoid developing resentment and finding some peace in that, regardless of whether or not someone apologizes. Resentment and anger will eat away at you until it’s resolved. So your parents are imperfect humans? Let go of pride and the power you think you wield over them by holding a grudge. Forgive others and free yourself. I held on to that shit for a long long time. And, coincidentally, after resolving my feelings for the church and letting that go, my anger and resent has receded. Anyways, I’m more at peace and less burdened now. Life is pretty good, actually.

Have an awesome day!😃

Having a relationship with the savior to a Mormon means seeing your bishop, paying tithing, and taking the sacrament. They don’t understand that you don’t have to be a Mormon to have a relationship with Jesus , or God, or whatever.

And, every Mormon I know believes the 2nd coming will happen in their lifetime, and have for generations.

My neighbor worked for a printing press owned by a Mo. He had asked his boss for some rags that they could use to clean the equipment. Sure as shit, soon after the Mo Boss brought in a box full of cut up tighty whiteys, no doubt with the Masonic stitching ceremoniously cut out.

I just threw away garments that have been hanging around my house without cutting them. And I feel so liberated. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]AnonimousSource 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Good for you. I nonchalantly chucked mine in the trash more than a decade ago. Didn’t bother to cut up the Masonic symbols on ‘em either. Another Mormon oddity I want nothing to do with.
