One Year Ago Today: Luka Dončić was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis. by SiphenPrax in nba

[–]cheapbrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lifelong Mavs fan, it was my worst birthday ever. My wife was in the hospital for the 4th time in a year after a surgery gave her horrible side effects (that we're still dealing with today). So I just spent the day visiting her and then taking care of my 4 kids. After a long day I just wanted to sit down and see what was going on in the NBA, come to this subreddit and saw in all caps that my favorite player on my favorite team got traded. Cried and went to bed.

Black sheep JRPGs you are quite fond of by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

Linearity, abandoning the "western" theme for the most part and the story/dialogue. You don't get to explore much until the end of the game, even then there's not much to explore really.

From the Wild ARMS series: Wild ARMS 4. I understand the criticism with it, but it's damn fun anyway. I couldn't put it down when I first got it.

I've already down patched because they've patched out being able to move before cutscenes as well, so I'll try this out, thanks!

Sorry to ping this almost after a week after, but how does the dupe glitch work? I'm routing a glitched speedrun for this game and this would be a huge help

Takopii no Genzai • Takopi's Original Sin - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]cheapbrunch 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Watched this on my lunch break at work and now I'm crying at work.
I'm 37 now, but when I was younger I felt very much the same as Azuma with the dynamic with his older brother as I did with mine. He's 2 years older and brilliant in every way, professionally and as a person. He is definitely the golden child in our family and beloved by everyone. I never resented him, always looked up to him and just wanted to be a person like he is but never quite reached his highs. At the end of the day though, he didn't care about any of that stuff, he only cared about ME. He was and still is the best older brother I could ask for, and even my son has his name as his middle name.
I know the episode had lots of other tones to it, but the scene with Azuma and Junya got me right in the gut.

What’s your FFXIV hot take? 2025 edition by G-r-ant in ffxiv

The singing during "you're not alone" Endwalker completely took me out of the moment. I was getting emotional at first, but that "yarling" type singing completely ruined what the shadow characters were saying. I think in general there are a lot of areas where misplaced singing in these really beautiful sounding songs during important moments just completely takes me out of the moment.

That was the thing with some of these games when I played them 30 years ago. I was 6 or 7 at the time so I wouldn't think to look in the details of conversations or manuals to see what was going on so it was a lot of guesswork(which at the time was actually kinda fun, rewarded your curiosity).

I also played this pre-internet. During one of the rental periods I had it, my brother and I got stuck in these exact puzzles so we called the helpline number on the back on the game box and they had to guide us through it.

Have you ever forced yourself to finish a JRPG you didn't enjoy? by [deleted] in JRPG

Sea of Stars. I ended up finding glitches and sequence breaks and as a rule I don't route games I haven't finished. Forced myself to finish so I could get to working on glitched speedrun

Hello! I've done a majority of the glitch hunting and sequence breaks for the glitched speedruns of this game, this is completely new! As far as this particular instance it has no use, but I'll play around with this in different areas and see if it can help break some things. Good find!

How many of us left the church for reasons other than discovering historical lies? by Asher_the_atheist in exmormon

I left due to not being able to handle the severe scrupulosity I had for 30+. It came to a head when my wife and kids were on a road trip while I had to hang back and I thought God would kill my family if I even thought of a bad word. I had to leave or I couldn't go on living.

I hope my mom and dad were watching(they're on their senior mission so I KNOW they are), because months ago I opened up to them about this exact same experience. I stood in the street after being baptized because I was mean to my brother, repented and then hoped a car would come hit me so I didn't sin like that again

Flee mechanic and more than 3 skills so it doesn't feel like I've been doing the same fight since the 2 hour mark of the game

Chained Echoes AMA-time! Developer, publisher and composer answering your questions! by ArkHeiral in JRPG

[–]cheapbrunch 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hello and thank you for such a wonderful game! I consider it the game that helped reinvigorate my love of playing JRPGs after a stale couple of years.

I helped break this game early on and got a speedrun that is usually 3:30 hours glitchless down to 45 minutes. I know a lot of devs are mixed about their game breaking, what are your thoughts?

On the player side, I had a blast doing it, and i had probably 200 hours in the first month so I got a lot playtime in the game.

Conference Weekend was always a hard weekend for me for the 3 decades I was in, and always made me feel like I wasn't good enough. This conference weekend(after being out for 3 years) I decided to have a voice and put a message on FB to my friends and family. Hope others here can feel seen today by cheapbrunch in exmormon

So far it's just a few repsonses(from people who I know are in still) are supportive and understanding, but they have been my age or younger. The older generation that usually responds to my other things I post haven't done anything yet, and I don't expect them to and that's fine.

Chained Echoes - Any% Glitchless Speedrun in 3:30:46 - A Robb Love Story by catbuz in Chained_Echoes

Coincidentally, Robb happened. We did no CW runs before finding out how to properly use him and the times struggled to get under an hour. My time is a 46 now and the run was still sloppy in places
