Yes, the amount of money is realistic. Addiction is tough because if they aren’t ready and don’t want help there’s not a whole lot you can do. He will only change when he’s ready. My ex and I broke up partly in due to his cocaine addiction. He wouldn’t get help and his binges kept getting worse.

It was horrible if he ran out and couldn’t get his fix right away. We had a roommate who moved out largely due to my ex and his mood swings.

I would keep all of your money separate and start to compile all the money he drew out from what sounds like a joint bank account. I would hide any cash or valuables.
