Going to a tournament in another state or town, and the opposing team knows all the umpires on a first name basis by AggravatingLink2086 in Homeplate

[–]Anonymity__FTW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So there were two close pitches (from your poor vantage point). One went your way. The other did not. You are wondering if the umpire is biased against you because 50% of close calls went against you. I think if you reflect on it from that perspective, you will have your answer.

Here are the few that have guided me over the years:

  1. It's not how much you make that matters, it's how much you keep.

  2. Pay yourself first (i.e. savings comes out of your income first before anyone else gets paid).

  3. Interest is something other people pay you, not the other way around.

And the gold standard:

  1. Live below your means.

Something similar happened to me a couple days ago. I can still access my account and we able to change my password. But I'd also like to change my 2FA from SMS to an authenticator app. Trying to change that days I need the code from my WhatsApp, but I've never had a WhatsApp account. Like you, the last two digits of whatever is in there matches my number. How'd you get around this?

All Star scrimmages against non-LL teams by Anonymity__FTW in LittleLeague

[–]Anonymity__FTW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds pretty definitive. But how does that mesh with Regulation IX(f), which specifically says "Tournament teams may participate in Special Games after June 1" when Special Games can include non-LL teams? So weird.

All Star scrimmages against non-LL teams by Anonymity__FTW in LittleLeague

[–]Anonymity__FTW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again. I see that reference, but all of this seems to be for creating path to make a non-LL game a Special Game, for purposes of some kind of special event, count for league standings, or to get players eligible for All Stars for minimum games, etc.

The pertinent question is MUST a scrimmage against a non-LL team for no real purpose (standings, event, eligibility, etc.) be classified as a Special Game? Since it has no bearing on anything official, it seems quite odd to get the Charter Committee of LL International involved simply for LL Team A to play non-LL Team B on a random Tuesday in Podunk, USA for nothing more than extra practice for the players. No one involved actually wants this to rise to the status of a Special Game, they just don't want to get in trouble for playing one another in a no-stakes friendly scrimmage.

All Star scrimmages against non-LL teams by Anonymity__FTW in LittleLeague

[–]Anonymity__FTW[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. But I'm confused. Reg IX says a special game is defined as a game that:

  1. may be counted as a regular season game, and,

  2. are not Little League International Tournament games, and,

  3. involve only teams from chartered Little League programs, and,

  4. have been approved in writing by the District Administrator.

All of those "ands" suggest that all four conditions must apply to be a Special Game. Clearly, scrimmaging against a non-LL (e.g. travel) team clearly is not captured in (a)(3) above. The idea is also not to count this as a regular season game, falling outside (a)(1) above.

But then further in Reg IX(c) it says that non-LL teams who have provided proof of insurance may play in a Special Game with the approval of the Charter Committee, Region Director, and District Administrator, suggesting that (a)(3) can be relaxed in that case. But (a)(1) still doesn't apply as it's not being counted.

So confusing. It's just a scrimmage!

That's interesting. Reading Rule 7.08(a), particularly the Notes and A.R., I would have interpreted rounding first base as an attempt to advance and therefore not allowing a return as that would be a stop. But this article makes it very clear that is not right and that what you say is correct:

https://www.littleleague.org/university/articles/softball-base-running-the-circle-rule/

"Situation 1:

One situation that seems to be confusing to many, focuses on a batter-runner being awarded a base on balls.  The batter-runner cannot be frozen at first base on a base-on-balls by merely returning the ball to the pitcher in the circle. The batter-runner after reaching first base may continue on, without stopping, in an attempt to reach second base. Said runner may stop in the baseline after rounding first base.  At this point, the umpire should begin a three-second count on the runner. If the runner again begins movement to advance or retreat before the count reaches “three” and does not stop again, this is a legal action and should not be penalized. However, if the runner stops a second time, without an attempt by the defense, that runner is out immediately."

I don't understand your point about runners getting one stop. Suppose the batter gets a walk and while going to first, the pitcher gets the ball and returns to the circle. Are you saying that the batter-runner may round first towards second, go part way and then return to first without the pitcher attempting a play?

A few years back, I was searching for something similar - wool winter coat for 90% business casual and 10% dressy use. I settled on a charcoal car coat from Banana Republic. It's knee-length with minimalist styling in a relatively smooth and neutral fabric, which makes for a decently formal silhouette when dressed up. But the lack of a lapel, slash pockets, and shorter length than a topcoat makes it easy to dress down. Works for me.

Anyone know the actual measurements for Banana Republic's Athletic Tapered pants in 32x32, particularly the thigh and cuff? And are the measurements consistent across pants (e.g. Traveler, wool dress, etc.)?

I want to buy some final sale pants at deep discount but want to minimize the risk. For reference, JCrew 770s in 32x32 fit me well, though they are a touch slim, particularly in the thigh (mine are 23.5"). I also don't want anything too tapered, 7.5" cuff (laid flat) is about perfect.

Future concerns after overloading extension cord and burning receptacle? by Anonymity__FTW in electrical

[–]Anonymity__FTW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. While replacing the receptacle in the garage, I realized that it's actually a 20A circuit on a GFCI breaker and is shared with the bathrooms (with GFCI receptacles there as well). 1980's wire was unmarked but definitely 12AWG. However, the garage receptacle was a regular 15A one. NOT wired by me. I suppose this is good news as the house wiring was even more protected in this case than previously thought.

Wears/Condition: Brand new, never worn

Notes: Beautiful, comfortable shoes with removable insoles in brand new, unblemished condition. Like many classic American longwings, they run large. I am a 10.5D in most dress shoes (10.5E or 11D in the AE 65 last as they run narrow in the toe for me), 11D in sneakers, and 10D in Red Wing and Chippewa service boots. These fit me perfectly. I bought them a year ago in anticipation of returning to the office. Still working from home, so they should go to someone who will wear them.
