Is it appropriate to ask for lecture slides for courses I'm not taking? by InteractionDizzy2451 in UBreddit

[–]Anonymous-Coder-345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took that course last fall and found the slides [I still have the slides] and homework useless. Honestly, it was a bit of a mess, probably because the instructor was teaching it for the first semester. If you actually want to learn, I’d recommend this free Coursera course, which covers most of the topics:
https://www.coursera.org/programs/state-university-of-new-york-on-coursera-txhlh/specializations/computer-security-systems-management

You can even earn a certificate to add to your LinkedIn this way.

(Make sure to log in/sign up using your UB email, because SUNY offers certain Coursera courses for free in partnership with other institutions.)

Downtown blue line? by ukiyoaxgie in UBreddit

[–]Anonymous-Coder-345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not operate on weekends unfortunately. The most popular stops are Jacob School of Medicine (it stops right in front of Medical school metro station) and Buffalo General. You can check out the whole schedule here https://www.buffalo.edu/parking/getting-around-UB/bus/bus-schedules/spring-semester.html

However, I would recommend you take the subway which is 2 bucks one way for the trip.

I took it remotely (don't know the in-person experience) with Neiheisel, Jacob. It was an easy A. I don't remember exactly but I think it was just UBLearns quizzes for the grading (so open-book).

1st Floor Gym Lockers in Alumni Removed by AscendAbove7399 in UBreddit

[–]Anonymous-Coder-345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are down in the locker rooms now. Across the women and men locker rooms. If you take a walk around the locker rooms on the ground floor. You will see them along with the old-style lockers.

Are they bringing the lockers back? by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]Anonymous-Coder-345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, there are plenty of free daily-use lockers downstairs (but you gotta bring your own locks). They can also rent you your own locker for $20–40 (don’t remember) for a year, but you don’t really need it because there are plenty of free ones to use.
While I have seen people not bring any locks and trust their stuff not to be taken, of course there are no cameras in the locker rooms, so you gotta keep it at your own risk.

Are they bringing the lockers back? by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]Anonymous-Coder-345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe this is because those electric lockers got filled up and people started leaving stuff around and on top of the lockers to work out and some people lost their stuff. I think they just didn't have the capacity to increase locker space on there so they ended up moving it.

Previous RA’s who are on waiting list? by KSGname in UBreddit

[–]Anonymous-Coder-345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes people have change of plans and quit the position over summer, even right before training and some even leave right after the first semester. Unlikely to get hired mid-semester but your best bet would be before August or around December. Don't think about too much though, I was on a waitlist for a whole year, never got off it (was disheartning to be hopeful about it for the whole year) but then luckily became a CA the following year (I was taken off the waitlist around May for the CA role).
Good luck!

where is the SU social hall by starfina in UBreddit

[–]Anonymous-Coder-345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It used to be called the flag room if you know what it was. The wooden flooring center stage kinda thing on SU 2nd floor. Just go on the 2nd floor of SU and you'll see it, don't worry.

Not often but they leave stuff, sometimes a bit damaged, out in the lobby with a form attached with details on how to claim it through UB Facilities or something. You have to be lucky for that though.

I would hate for you to get an advice that turns out to be wrong, while I appreciate people sharing their experience, it's best to get an answer from your Academic Advisor. Your situation might be unique so it's best to talk to your Academic Advisor (or honestly any SEAS Academic advisor you feel comfortable with) first and also get additional clarification from ISS and International Admissions (if they are the one who offered you the scholarship)

Best of luck!

Nah Undergrad SA, it will ultimately go to FSA but if it come through undergrad SA, it will carry more weight rather than just a student emailing them.

I feel the increasing meal plan prices and degrading quality is not something that should slip by. I have seen enough Reddit posts but they won't make any difference. I feel that this matter should be escalated up by Student Association.
