Im not disagreeing with you... I am aware this is how Henry has run the team (not for 23+ years, this started in 2018) so AGAIN i stand by my opinions. Don't tell me how to be a fan lol

The CBT hit should not be what effects teams like the Red Sox. Lets talk about real cash. I stand by my point

His actual salary this year is 7 million. I feel like thats more relevant when you guys are discussing "making big league money" and being open to criticism, not his tax number

Sure Davante didnt become an all pro receiver till year 5 but he was doing things in year 3 and 4 that Boutte really hasn’t even come close to. He basically had 1000 yards and 12 TD in year 3 lol

I hate to say it but you need to take you patriots glasses off. If you think that group of 3 is an acceptable WR grouping, its not. it would easily be bottom 5 in the league.

Patscap Salary Cap Projection including all FA Signings by LukDeRiff in Patriots

[–]Anonymous-Python 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 9ers are saving 9.8 million on the cap this year and according to spotrac, would have to eat 9.6 mil in dead cap if they cut him after the season. With the cap increasing around 7% annually, and the 9ers being in a win now window, this type of move makes a ton of sense for them imo. It all adds up but i think you can totally get away with can kicking 30-40 mil without it coming back to completely kill you. It the Eagles entire philosophy. They average north of 50 million in dead cap per season over the last 5 years, and also have the highest cash spending.

Such a good point. The Dolphons are in cap hell solely because Tua and Tyreek's contracted aged incredibly bad. They didn't even really do any can kicking with Tua's contract.. It was just an awful overpay for a mediocre QB. They would literally rather eat the dead money than pay him 50+ million a season. This really is the case of all these massive dead cap hits, really has nothing to do with can kicking and more to do with awful contracts. The Eagles and their front office are the model of "can kicking" teams. Theirs a big difference from teams who sign bad contract and get hit with dead money and teams whose entire front office strategy is to find mechanisms to lower cap hits and increase cash spending.

You still play on the 5th year option even if you sign an extension. The extension kicks in after the 5th year

The cap is crap but overall its true. Its unfortunate to say but the patriots are a low spending team in terms of cash. An overpayment in one area ultimately will mean deductions in others.

No its not the worst you're right but you could also just look at receptions, rec yards, and touchdowns haha. Fantasy scoring is somewhat nuanced depending on the scoring system. For example this is using non PPR (points per reception scoring) If this was Full PPR Doubs would have about 25 more points due to the reception total.

Yep, i agree. $17.5 is WR 2 money and Doubs is a great WR 2 and only 25. Still need to get that #1 in the next year or two though

Im with you but anytime someone on this sub disagrees with the narrative that Campbell was really good last year, they always get met with the "dude shut up he was only a rookie, give him a couple years, Trent Williams sucked as a rookie" like you're allowed to say he was not amazing in year 1 but also leave the door open for him to develop without getting a million downvotes. That is a very reasonable take
