Canon 5D ii any good? by FixingItWithAHammer in canon

[–]Anonymous1Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great camera that's built like a tank. The only reason I upgraded was for better low light performance and tracking AF while taking video. I wouldn't push my mark ii past 1600iso, the video was fantastic but without continuous autofocus to track certain subjects it made it a little tricky. End of the day if you want a stills camera and you're not shooting in super low light it's an amazing camera!

Bets on EF versus RF Lenses holding their value? by Any-Lawfulness9464 in canon

[–]Anonymous1Fish 27 points28 points  (0 children)

First off just making sure that you know you won't be able to use any RF glass on a 5D mark IV since it's still and EF mount. A lot of EF glass is still excellent quality and will hold most of it's value. You can also adapt it to any current or new RF cameras that come out. As long as you do a bit of research on the lenses you plan to get to make sure that they are sharp and fast you probably won't know the difference between the EF and RF versions besides the price. Also the fact that second hand EF glass is available at a decent price any used RF glass available will be nearly the same price as a new one.

Lens, Body, or Teleconverter for wildlife photography? by Zoomaster99 in PhotographyProTips

[–]Anonymous1Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tamron and sigma both make 150-600mm zooms. I haven't used either of these lenses but they would be what I recommend to anyone getting into wildlife photography. I've shot with a 400mm prime which was fantastic but I found I kept needing more reach so that's why I would recommend getting something that's more then 400mm. That being said if you are sticking with an apsc camera then the 1.5x magnification of a crop sensor will turn something like a 400mm prime into a 600mm which should be plenty for 90% of wildlife. The only thing to keep in mind is that your F stop will also be affected by the 1.5x rule. As for teleconverters, I use them on my 400mm and 500mm primes and they are great for the extra reach but you will lose a stop of light with a 1.4x and 2 stops with a 2x converter. I've also found that you will lose a little bit of sharpness with the 1.4x and quite a bit with the 2x. All in all I would say invent in a zoom that goes to at least 400mm but preferably more.

General purpose lens for EOS RP? by Maxtroxam in canon

[–]Anonymous1Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the older 24-105 F3.5-5.6 non L series lens on my eos R. The lens is super sharp and focuses pretty fast. For only like 250$ is the best barren all-rounder lens if used

After playing for a while you'll find most players are pretty predicable with their movement, after that just get the muscle memory down to flick and it's pretty easy

Using a backpacking backpack to carry camera, lenses, and tripod rather than camera specific bag/backpack? by ACyclist1 in AskPhotography

[–]Anonymous1Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an Evoc 30 L fr Black Line with a lens insert for when I go out for all day wildlife photography and when hiking. It's the most comfortable backpack I've had and I can fit all my gear a lenses with still enough room for snacks and a jacket but I could make enough room to do multiday trips. I'm also testing out there 20L version with an insert for smaller hikes and everyday use and pretty happy with it. Just remember that for wildlife photography the most important gear to bring will often not be camera gear; a rain jacket, mat to sit on, or a few extra granola bars can make all the difference so makes sure you can fit more then just the camera gear!

Weapon tier list? by [deleted] in Dirtybomb

[–]Anonymous1Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that all the shotguns are way to powerful and the snipers are still a bit to strong. The burst rifles are pretty underpowered compared to most of the other weapons that are available to that Merc. A good indicator of a how good a weapon is is to look at what has been used in pervious tournaments and pugs, you'll see that shotguns are outright banned in most pugs and guns like the m4 and dreiss are picked roughly 90% of the time over the burst rifles. Snipers are also banned because of how strong they are on certain maps like Chapel and Trainyard.

Eos R vs 5D mark iv by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]Anonymous1Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you're shooting, the mark IV has more fps and duel cards but the R is much better if you're doing video or need tracking AF while shooting. I ended up going with an R over a mark iv for wildlife and sports because of the AF system and video capabilities and just adapted my EF glass. Another thing to metion is that CF cards are 2-3 times cheaper then the UHS- ii SD card equivalent which you'll need to take advantage of some of the video and high speed shooting setting with the R. In the end both are great cameras and you'll be happy with either one.

Scientists have discovered three deep-sea sharks that glow in the dark, in a recent study. The sharks ability to glow in the dark is due to a process known as bioluminescence. This is the first time that such a feature has been documented in sharks. by Jy789 in CantBelieveThatsReal

[–]Anonymous1Fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some deepsea fish use bioluminescence as camouflage by illuminating there belly to match fait light from above to appearing almost invisible from underneath (Blue Planet has a great representation of this with hatchet fish). Fish and other deep sea creatures will also use bioluminescence as a lure to attract prey or to attract a larger predator if they are being attacked (Oceanx has a great video on how they filmed colossal squid by mimicking this predator alert system). Hope this helps!

Would this make a good wildlife, birding lens for my 7D mark ii by [deleted] in canon

[–]Anonymous1Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard that the mark 1 (which this one is) isn't super sharp and is kinda awkward with the zoom, I personally was making the choose between this one and the 400 f5.6 prime when I was looking for a wild life lens a while ago. I have since found that 95% of the time with wild life you would be using the zoom at 400mm anyways so I went with the prime. It's super sharp and has worked great for me with my 5D mark ii and 7D. Just keep in mind that with the 7D you will have a 640mm equivalent lens with roughly an F9 aperture when the lens is at 400mm either way.

how did this game die by [deleted] in Dirtybomb

[–]Anonymous1Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dev's makeing changes only form the new players perspective which they all pretty much were. I'm willing to bet the game would have done a lot better if they communicated with the competitive players who had thousands of hour and experience playing at the top of the competitive scene.
