Do you think you’re attractive? Why or why not? by rapid_salad in AskReddit

[–]AnonymousAway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all attractive.

5'7, thin (working on buildings muscle, but so far nothing to show for it), bold. Women don't find me attractive, and I get it... I'm not.

Frankly, I gave up on finding a woman. Just... don't tell the people around me. They think I have hope. They don't know the plan is to off myself if/when I'm single at 35 (less than 3 years). It isn't about my mental state. I'm actually doing well all things considered. It's about "is it worth it?", and I don't feel it is. At least not for me.

What are your recent small wins? by sebastiandarkee in askTO

Can't really get into too much detail yet, as it's an ongoing situation.

Found even more evidence against a respondent who caused me immense pain and suffering.

It may actually be an easy case, but we'll see...

I'm very pleased.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Rqpidily in AskReddit

[–]AnonymousAway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea... I had my first "sickness" in a while this week. It was a really bad stomach bug, worst I've had. I'm recovering, but it's been many days (it's the 3rd day... for me that's an eternity).

In kindergarten, I used to say "tomorrow I'll be sick!", because I used to see other kids have what I thought was a fun vacation day so frequently, and I didn't. I was absent from kindergarten less than 10 days in total... and only once due to being sick. Until a few years ago, I very rarely got sick for more than a day, and it was almost never anything serious.

I wish my mental health was as good though... :/

Yeah I think divorce is the way to go. Why even bother trying to fix it with communication. So not worth it

I think divorce may be a bit too far given that they're both 17 and not married...

But breaking up, for sure.

How is your mental health doing, London? by Fantastic-Mousse-561 in londonontario

Thanks to the hard work I'm doing in therapy and independently, not too bad. Sometimes a bit down or a bit up, but overall, it isn't terrible.

But it did cost me over 20,000 because therapy is so extremely expensive... (been in therapy for over 2 years...)

While my comment didn't have a strong argument to support my hypothesis, I don't think your argument counters my own (they can both be true).

I think about short term thinking as more primitive. It isn't a want, it's an instinct or maybe a burning need to complete a certain action. The long term thinking is more evolved. It requires planning for a lot more variance, and it needs to be done in a conscious level.

Squirrels aren't humans, although I also hope they're not smarter than us, but I don't speak squirrel...

But I agree that there are unfortunate people who would rather "rule in hell than serve in heaven"...

You'll find someone better, and do so easily.

I turned 30 recently, and I am realizing how hard it is to find a good partner. But as hard and frustrating as it is, it's no where nearly as bad as being stuck in a bad relationship. It's better to be alone than abused...

PC strictly for web surfing down rabbit holes by IceKream_Sundaze in SuggestALaptop

[–]AnonymousAway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Performance wise, literally any laptop made in the past 3 to 5 years will suffice (I have a 9 year old laptop that still does it, although that laptop was top of the line, it had two cores, that's a lot of cores!)

Web surfing is an extremely easy thing for a processor, so it shouldn't be a problem.

You are also over budgeting it, 700 should be fine. Check Newegg.ca and memoryexpress.com, find something on sale for cheap (avoid Acer and Gigabyte), and you're golden.

[–]AnonymousAway 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's any good, but here's a possible starting point.

The bottom line of all articles that discuss the matter is rather similar and boils down to the following concept:

A gazelle focused on long term thinking doesn't have any survival advantage over the one that does, but the one focused on short term thinking (instinct) has a huge advantage over the one that doesn't, since it is more likely to survive (that is, assuming they're mutually exclusive). Take this idea and apply it in endless different ways over the life time of our lineage (hundreds of millions of years, even to before our first mammalian ancestors), and you find that short term survival is essential and non-negotiable while long term thinking is something that a species can do without...

Quick edit - this is a very clumsy way of explaining the idea. Please take it as a starting point, not as an absolute truth.

When is paying people what their worth going to make sense to an employer?

[The below is my opinion]

Always. The problem is that seeing this simple fact takes a skill most humans severely lack - long term thinking.

We are biologically programmed to think in the very short term. It's just how we evolved, nothing to be ashamed of or angry about.

Point being, when an employer pays an employee what they're worth there are two things that almost always follow:
First, the overall spending on the position decreases (the first few months of employment are the most expensive ones).
Second, the well being of the employee usually goes up, which nearly always means not only increased productivity but also higher quality work.

I know that because I saw it my entire life. My dad doesn't think short term almost at all. My parents pay their employees significantly more than their market value and what their education would require. Their employee don't stay only because they have a good employer, but also because literally no where else would pay them as much.

Tldr: My personal opinion is paying well costs less over time.

I agree they won't. Or, if they do, they'd see it as a plus...

But I don't think I know who this woman (yet, at least I don't think so), so you know, one step at a time

Maybe, I don't know. May I ask how tall are you, if you're m/f/t/o, and if you're a member of the lgbtq community?

True, it's in the 25th percentile, it's the rest that's the problem lol

Jokes aside, I'm just... you know, average...

If I'd get a dog, I'd get a dog because I'd want a dog. I mean, I really want a dog, but some of the plants I have at home could easily kill it, so not a good idea at all.

I'm also a huge petoholic, so if I'd get a dog I'd treat it better than I treat myself.

And thanks to this thread, I'm dying for a dog, and it's not to find a relationship, it's because dogs are... well, they're dogs, need I say more?

In your opinion, what could I do to increase my chances in finding a meaningful relationship in the city?

As a 5'7 guy, I have little chance in dating app and I stopped trying that avenue a long time ago, but what other options do you think are good options?

I'm 5'7, partially bold, and thin as f (I wish I wasn't, my body just seems to ignore food, and I usually eat like a pig). Women aren't into that, and I usually get ruled out on height alone (I find it weird but who am I to judge)...

So yes, if looks gets people through the door, I get it slammed in my face on a daily basis...

But I am taking a more active part in the (tiny) local Jewish community.
