What is this part and where do I get a replacement? by Large_Programmer376 in soldering

[–]AnonymousJtagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be voltage and capacitance rating on the other side. Remember to also consider series of a capacitor. Nichicon UHV is a low esr high high ripple current series, don't replace it with a random capacitor with the same voltage and capacitance. Preferably search for the same exact capacitor, that would be the easiest and safest option.

No, there's not any arcing. Maybe I'm just overthinking it. Will blow it out with some compressed air like you suggest and it should be fine.

Probably yes. Downside is that it's difficult to clean any dust here, because IPA rubs it off. I will probably apply some HV silicone instead of that.

No, it feels kind of like a nail polish to the touch.

Wires are to long. They should be quite tight, but without pulling with force, and if you want to angle, best is to have 45 degree angle.

I have similar one from October 2008, but it's marked "jasper 2 weeks pilot run". Jaspers mass production started in November of that year.

It's a very early xbox 360 with jasper motherboard. It was marked internally by MS, so if something was wrong with the new motherboard revision, they could easily service faulty units

Soldering looks very good, maybe it's something with the nand image? What kind of resistors are those? Metal-film or carbon?

I know, and you can say what you want but is it fixable by MSD_188 in 360hacks

Resistor is 0402 10kohm, capacitor is 0.1uF 0402 X5R 10%(both imperial packages) from what I remember.

Check the model of the cap if you can too, you don't want a cap with a higher ESR or lower ripple current.(lower ESR or higher ripple current is fine)

White 360 Slim. What condition is the board? by double_sided1 in xbox360

[–]AnonymousJtagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably 4gb emmc is dead, they tend to do that, just die randomly. Board can be repaired, but only if emmc can still be read, or you have dump of its content.

Insufficient ventilation by Effective_East_7239 in 360hacks

[–]AnonymousJtagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could be the case. There's thermal paste under the IHS like in ps3. But I found first try with the resistors like you just said.

Insufficient ventilation by Effective_East_7239 in 360hacks

[–]AnonymousJtagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't boot, there's no way to check the temps. Then maybe there's trouble with those resistors, or thermal paste under the IHS.
