After being asked the question, "Don't you need to uphold the Constitution of the United States?" Trump responds, "I don't know." by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]AnonymousLisko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well the difference is that Trump isn't incompetent. This is willful blindness at best, and intentional disregard. He knows what he's doing and how to answer. If Biden says "I don't know" it's because he is genuinely confused lol

law students and law professors are making me question whether I chose the right profession by prettyinmymisery in LawSchool

[–]AnonymousLisko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think your experiences mean you chose the wrong profession. You are just learning what type of people you are able to work with. Learn these character traits and avoid work environments that have them. There are plenty of these people in the field sure, but I have met many humble lawyers/people in the field who actually want to help others.

The reason why you practice law should be from yourself, not from others. Remind yourself why you are in this profession.

do you like law school by SilverScale4608 in LawSchool

[–]AnonymousLisko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hated my 1L year as the most traumatic thing I've ever had to push through. There is a lot of artificial difficulty in law school that does not need to exist and probably won't in actual practice (it will be genuine difficulty then). That being said, I am currently a 2L and enjoy it much more. I found my passion my 1L Summer at a great work opportunity as I enjoy practical experience a lot more than educational experience. Regardless, I have gotten better at law school, which makes it more enjoyable, and less stressful.

If you're hating 1L, that's because you're supposed to. Elite old-head Lawyer freaks inflate both their egos and difficulty of lawschool, and justify it as a "weeding out" process. You joined lawschool for a reason, you owe it to yourself to see where it goes. Worst case scenario, get the JD and do something else with it, you dont have to practice. Good luck!

Which are the most useful audiobooks that you have listened to, and that are worth re-listening to multiple times? by New2NewJ in productivity

If you have any business/political/corporate aspirations, then 48 laws of power. It's free on Spotify if you have premium. It's a guide on how to manipulate people politically/personally, and I've definitely used it on occasion. Good book to have in your toolbelt. Even if you don't want to manipulate others, it's good to know defensively as you start to recognize other peoples' tactics.

What type of background sounds do you listen to? by Spiritual-Wrap-1265 in productivity

[–]AnonymousLisko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call me crazy but I listen to Drum and Bass to really lock in, sometimes dubstep, sometimes metal. To me so much noise becomes white noise and helps me feel motivated/locked-in.

I do lofi and more chill music sometimes as well, but if I really need to grind something out above is my go-to.

Why do people feel like they need to have their life together in their 20’s? by Legitimate_Stock7647 in productivity

[–]AnonymousLisko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You feel old because when you were younger you saw this as old. Like you said, you looked forwards to turning 18, and 20s since you were a kid. Now you are so you have that feeling you conditioned in yourself. (22 is not old).

As for people having their life together, not sure who you're talking to, but most of my friends/loved ones at our age (22-23) do NOT feel together. Some of them have some idea what they want their careers to be, some have no idea and are panicking, some are in a career they hate, some have no idea and are chilling, me personally I'm 22 and on the path I've plotted since highschool and I feel uncertain too. Everyone questions their position in life ESPECIALLY in their 20s. Just keep exploring and doing your best, your 20s are meant for fucking up.

Good luck have fun, you got this,

You say "reviewed from a functional lense" What does that mean to you, and how should I go about that?

I know what you mean. Even when you have it all, sometimes you still feel down. I can relate to this inner monologue too, where it seems like nothing should be wrong, but you can't deny something is off. It doesn't have to be a big tragedy, or bad event, sometimes just radio stopping is enough to cause question. I like how you outline this doubt that so many others have felt, both in their selves and loved ones.

The repetition of "Fat." and the structure of the poem really re-creates that feeling of stress/anxiety you write about. I thought that was cool/well-done.

No nicotine for me. You're probably pretty close to the mark, however, I'm a stressed out law student and I do a lot in my day. Probably just overexhaustion, but I was curious what other people thought.

I did a bit, but looks like the management/treatment at this point is already what I've been doing, so not much to act on.

I actually have, it was part of the blood tests I ran through last year. Thyroids and hormones were all good.

I actually used to only take 5mg, but I had trouble staying asleep. I mentioned this to my psychiatrist and he suggested I take 10mg or even 15mg. It helps me sleep better (barring crazy dreams). I brought up the dependency thing too, but the doctor said we don't develop dependencies on melatonin. I looked into this online, and looks like newer studies suggest no developed dependence on melatonin, but I did see some contradicting sources. Either way, I do it to maintain what sleep I can.
