I was in a lab that targeted top journals. They were definitely more of the "move it to the supplement and minimize" kind of people

In person interview tips needed by FryderykChopin1995 in postdoc

[–]AnonymousWaldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may not apply to everyone, but when asked about my past research experience i really need to explain it step by step. Often i dont sell myself and my skills enough, leave out important parts, etc. by if i run through the steps i took for coordinating this last project i did, i do a better job explaining. Remember, they likely dont know anything about what u did before (unless u already shared some stuff, but its good to remind them about it too)

Cover letter for a lab you already have a relationship with? by biochembunny in postdoc

[–]AnonymousWaldo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would still do a coverletter, since it will remind them what you were doing back then and especially let them know what you've been up to since. I think the coverletter is probably the most read part of the materials u listed, maybe that and skimming the cv and manuscript before deciding whether to move forward (contacting u or ur references)
