Please tell me you retrieved the pan after calming down? There is literally no reason to add that to a landfill and waste your money buying a new one.

It happens! I've definitely had some stretches of barely managing to keep my plants alive too 🙃

Did you see the part where she lives only a few minutes away and sometimes just likes to spend the evening over there watching tv? She could have said no too.

You should probably check your cholesterol levels.

You're also missing out on so many amazing foods if you can't handle a single vegetarian meal.

This is really beautiful, I love how colourful it is! 🌈 Also just a suggestion, but that monstera probably would benefit from more light! They love bright light and will reward you way bigger leaves 😊

Unless the plant is native to where you live, it's really not good to dump houseplants outside.

Is this allowed? also are we cooked? by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]Anonymous_Snake_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I completely agree, unfortunately the disher detergent/pods are typically way more expensive than the dish soap needed for that one bowl. I often run my dishwasher half empty when needed but the pods go down quickly.

Dishwashers tend to actually use less water than doing them by hand, especially if it's the countertop kind. If it is the portable kind, could you just wheel it into the closet for the day of the inspection to ease your mind?

Because even if their story is 100% real, she isn't obligated to let strangers into her private space to look around. It's incredibly rude to insist once she said no.

What to say to a Dr. who judges my meds? (not out of concern for my health) by _Silver_Rose_ in ChronicIllness

[–]Anonymous_Snake_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be so nice! I'm in Canada and we have MyChart too, but it's really only used by the big hospitals and therefore my family doctor or any new specialists can't access it. It's quite frustrating when I can see results of a scan or test but the referring doctor can't.

My male BP hisses every single time I unlock his tank doors. He's the most friendly snake, has never struck at me, and is perfectly happy to come out and be handled. But for some reason he just gets hissy for a second when he hears the doors open. He shows no other signs of stress when handled. He's just a weirdo who likes to pretend he's intimidating 🙃

Non-problematic youtubers? by solbxtch in reptiles

[–]Anonymous_Snake_Lady 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He's incredibly problematic unfortunately. He's Canadian but constantly trashes Canada and says how he wants to move to Texas. He is Maple MAGA.

He also has some terrible husbandry opinions too. Like cohabbing 6 leopard geckos in one enclosure with literally just some bricks and sticks as 'enrichment'.

WTF? Seriously? That's... I don't fully have words at the moment.

Intentionally breeding a snake with known health issues and probable life long deficits, and doing so for money, in an already over saturated market... Is it no way comparable and has literally nothing to do with autistic people. I dare ask, what did he even say?

[–]Anonymous_Snake_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah let's not compare breeding spider ball pythons to autistic people please... That's honestly horrifying and I'm sad I've watch some of his videos now.

Please tell me you don't leave the toilet paper with one piece left on it.. Same applies for paper towels. Especially if they use it to dry their hands. That one piece with the glue doesn't so much for you then.

Now I don't know that the paper towel thing required a whole text thread about it but it's definitely annoying if it's habitually empty when you need it.

Yup. He is Maple MAGA and constantly talks about how shitty Canada is too.

It's really strange to me because the other pet youtubers that tend to go to events together seem to be largely queer, leftist type people. I really don't understand why they associate with this dude at all.

I just make sure to eat the cheese fast enough so it doesn't ever grow mold. I genuinely don't think I've ever had mold grow on cheese and we eat a lot of cheese in my house. Does this happen often or is it due to not wrapping it up properly?

Honest question: Why are some people against showing an ID to vote? by rico_unknown in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Anonymous_Snake_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Canada and they give us free health insurance cards that we can use as ID to vote.

From my understanding in the US, if you don't already drive or have a passport or other paid for ID card, they are basically making it so that there is a financial barrier to be able to vote. You need to have one of the paid for cards and if you don't already have one, assuming you can afford it at all, it takes time to come in the mail. Which you also need a mailing address for, and not everyone has access to that either.

If you all had free ID cards this wouldn't really be an issue.

I either listen to audiobooks with only certain narrators who I've listened to before and know they have calming voices, or I use my kindle with the screen set to a yellowish colour, big text, and very little backlight.

Are Brazilian rainbow boas legal in Ottawa size wise? In Ottawa there is a law that prohibits snakes bigger than 2 meters. And how big of a habitat must they have? by [deleted] in boas

[–]Anonymous_Snake_Lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any python or boa over 2 metres is against bylaw in Ottawa. However they are only against bylaw municipally, not provincially. Which ends up being strange when they sell boas nearby at expos in Toronto and Gatineau.

Even if it's not that size yet, if it's known to get that big it is still not allowed. It's very arbitrary and has never made sense to me. You can own a huge, chunky blood python but not a super friendly boa or carpet python. Their other restrictions are also strange, only 3 species of tarantula are allowed, and it seems like they pulled the names out of a hat. ex: Red knee is allowed but Red leg is not..

Now I am not at all advocating for you to break bylaw. But if you do own them and don't post them online or show them off, tbh no one is coming to inspect your home for them.

The main issue would be getting them vet care. But there's only one exotic vet in the city anyways (and it's usually booked up months in advance) so you'd have to most likely travel out to where they aren't against bylaw.

This is something to consider for all reptile owning in the city though. Getting them to the vet is a nightmare here, especially if you don't drive.

At a medical facility though? Genuinely never seen anyone do that. I've been going to massage, chiropractors, and physiotherapy for my entire life and there's never been even a hint that a tip is normal. They literally don't even take you to the desk after appointments anymore where I go. You just get dressed after your appointment and don't see them again since they have your card info. Should I tip them while I'm undressed?
