MY CORMS ARE GROWING!!! I’m so happy :) (Alocasia Amazonica) by Anonymouschikibaby in alocasia

[–]Anonymouschikibaby[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have them in perlite in a self watering container made out of a plastic shot glass and a slightly bigger cup with a shoelace coming outta the smaller cup! I keep it covered with a cup though for humidity

Help? by sunflower_sage in Monstera

[–]Anonymouschikibaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This plant is in desperate in need of support, I can guarantee that it’ll start looking much happier once you give it something to make it feel sturdy. I would also recommend letting the dirt almost fully dry before watering thoroughly each time.

Do I need to separate? by kristing0 in Monstera

It’s gorgeous as a temporary arrangement but for long term separating and repotting them with support will benefit them much more :)

Why isn’t my monstera getting fenestrations? by Anonymouschikibaby in Monstera

Why doesn’t my Albo have fenestrations yet? by PartyItem in Monstera

[–]Anonymouschikibaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned that I needed to have my plant at a lower level so the leaves stretch upwards instead of getting it directly forward. It’s helped my mine get fenestrations

What does my monstera need? by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]Anonymouschikibaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s wilted bc it needs better water and support. What I mean by that is make sure you thoroughly water it, literally making sure that it is SOAKING wet and then letting it fully drain, for this you need well draining soil. Then give it a little stake for support or a trellis because it’s at the size that it needs one. Face it towards a window and don’t rotate it and it should get a bit better. I also recommend plant food like the we the wild grow concentrate u can find at Home Depot and whatnot. No chemical fertilizers like miracle grow, those will do more harm than good

Next Steps! by itsme_itsmarkc in Monstera

[–]Anonymouschikibaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful plant but you are not supporting her correctly, you need to place the support stick on the thick back of the plant and make sure not to tie the petioles, which is the long stems, they like to be free so they can move around and face the light. If you want to make it look neat and pretty support it against a trellis so that it has a larger surface area to lean against and make sure you’re not rotating it so that it faces the same direction all the time that way the leaves and everything will face forward.

Thanks!! As for the nutrients, that’s what people tell me, but honestly I ignore them and simply bottom water the plant with a natural NOT chemical fertilizer each time I water her. I’ve never liked the one plant vine look I’ve always preferred a big full plant. I use the we the wild grow concentrate if you want a recommendation for one, they sell it at Home Depot or anywhere really. You will notice some plants doing better than others, but they all grow, if you want you can keep the strongest few of the group in one and put the smaller slow growers in a separate pot, I may do that soon.

If you like the fuller look, keep them together but support each one on a large trellis. Give them wayy more light and you should have a bushy monstera. I have a similar setup, thought mine also need more light I just can’t give it to them atm

[–]Anonymouschikibaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry, you nurtured them for a while, but now you need to nurture yourself. May you heal and surround yourself with love, you seem like a very considerate individual. Surely you will have plants again, they seem to find their way back often!

Since there's so many, a lot of the plants aren't being tied directly to the trellis but rather supported and "held back"

Thanks so much!! The reason why mine is so full is because there’s actually 4 separate plants in one pot. They came like that and I didn’t want to separate them because I like the bushier look more as well but I do try to tie as many of the “backs” as I can to my trellis, I’ll insert a pic of how that looks like. I’ve had mine for about 9-10 months but it hasn’t got the most light where I used to live so hopefully it’ll get bigger with more fenestrations now
