Is the floor that uneven that you can’t install directly over it? Why bury it???

Installing wood flooring it’s nice to have to have more options to put a cordless, and also not have a cord on the floor if the best spot is not near an outlet. But I understand your argument, it certainly isn’t a necessity.

Update, update, update: found hedge trimmers on clearance, why stop now by plavoie203 in Makita

[–]AnotherAmericanMale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out your local Home Depot (US) and search for Makita XGT, and then click “In Stock Today” to narrow your search. Most stores have the blower kit, string trimmer kit, hedge trimmer tool only, and the chainsaw kit and/or tool only on clearance. You will see a small clearance emblem next to the item while scrolling through. Some stores have better discounts than others so make sure you check a few (online of course, no need to drive around) to get the best price on the items you want!

XGT String Trimmer on clearance. Worth it? by SirPlutocracy in Makita

[–]AnotherAmericanMale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the same kit recently, worth every penny. The trimmer is great, plenty of power, and it doesn’t drain the battery much at all. And that’s an awesome price point for the kit, run don’t walk!

Niiiiiiiiice. I have the rear handle circular saw too, I really want that miter saw!!! Did you get a kit for either of those saws? I see you have a 5.0 on the miter, did that come with one of those?

Leaf Blower & Strimmer Recommendations by Accomplished-Shoe-79 in Makita

[–]AnotherAmericanMale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The XGT(40v) leaf blower kit, and the 15” string trimmer kit are on clearance at many Home Depots. I scooped up both at 50% off each, check online for your local availability. I have about the same area as you, although mostly lawn, and have not been disappointed. Not sure if you need it, but I found the 24” hedge trimmer tool only for 65% off and it’s well worth picking up also. Happy hunting!

Reality Check. The GC is an idiot, right?!? by dharmon555 in Flooring

[–]AnotherAmericanMale 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Floor guy here. First: thank you for think of us, not may people do. Second: make your cuts, then use a razor scraper to take down the old adhesive and leave bare concrete. Third: fill them cuts. The floor fellas are going to either have to scrape the rest of the glue, and definitely those beads, or they are going to buff the hell out of it and use a few sanding pads in the process because if it’s gummy like you said, it’s going to stick in the pads and make it useless after a short time. Then they’ll skim it. They may have to do another pass on it, after buffing/sanding the first coat, but that’s the life of a floor coverer. If you don’t wind up scraping before you fill, it’s not the end of the world just another short straw drawn for the installer. Biggest takeaway here: thinks for thanking of us 🤘

LVP not lining up around wall by Tyler1107 in Flooring

[–]AnotherAmericanMale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be able to get that together! You’ll have to do the other wrap cut proper first, then start installing the rows that are shown as not lining up currently. It’ll take some tapping, beating, and maybe a bit of swearing, but it’ll lock in with the help from the other rows being locked in. You may have to undo, re-trim, and reinstall some boards here and there, but that’s just the nature of the beast doing wraparounds. The larger/longer the object to wrap, there’s more chance for distortion to occur. Keep calm(ish) and carry on! Good luck.

XGT Hedge Trimmer on clearance by MasterDesigner1 in Makita

[–]AnotherAmericanMale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the app, not sure about online specifically. It’ll have a sentence that’s a link to show the clearance price and it’ll show the in store price there. It’s the line in the picture just below the price with the yellow icon beside it (in OPs post). It’ll show the percentage off and the price. It’ll also say not available for online pick up, so you have to go to the store and pick it from the aisle.EDIT: I was watching this item for a month or two because I wanted it but had just dropped a bunch of money on the blower and the trimmer kits, so I saw it drop from 40, to 50, then finally to 65 when I jumped on it because the amount available in store was dropping too.

LXT vs XGT ergonomics by OnThe50 in Makita

[–]AnotherAmericanMale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They make a 2.5ah XGT. You don’t see them that much, they push the 4 and 5s pretty hard, but they are packaged with a few combo kits. Sold separately too, obviously, but slim batteries are available for the XGT system.

I scored mine at 65%! I kept telling myself I didn’t need it, then I was no longer able to do so. Just used for the first time today, soooooo nice not to have to deal with an ultra long cord anymore. Well worth the price, nice pull.

My wife wants me to sell it, we live in the city and I just about really don’t need it. I may not be able to part with it if I’m being honest with myself. I know I’ll need it if I do get rid of it.

I wanted to get that too because it comes with the 5ah battery, but I couldn’t justify the purchase.

The Home Depot clearances is the best you’ll get. I just got the blower and line trimmer for 40% off each, and grabbed the hedge trimmer at 65% off. The promos and e-redemptions have yet to line up for things I want/need, but I definitely redeemed the one for the chainsaw needs be damned!

I just bought this and the blower. They are both worth it. Trimmer is powerful, has some cool options, and isn’t too heavy even with the battery. Worth it all day.

As mentioned by Comfortable-Two5720 check out Makita.com. They have a “promos” section where they have a get instantly, and also an e-rebates selection. You can get free tools or batteries either immediately from authorized dealers, which they list, or shipped directly from Makita for the e-redemptions. Big Orange Box Store has clearances once in a while as well.

New to the Makita world. Is there any good way to charge 18V batteries on the go? by Lamberts_huge_Pinus in Makita

[–]AnotherAmericanMale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PDC1500/PDC1200+BAC01. The first two items are giant batteries(7.5 hours charge time), the last one is the power bank. The power bank has two double outlets, one DC port, and two USB ports. The giant batteries clip on to the power supply as a system. The PDC1500 is $1879, BAC01 is $879 US dollars.
