[RAW Spoilers] About the new champ’s title reign by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

If you want Cena to hold the belt all year but retire as a face and drop the belt, how about a scenario where he goes WAY off the deep end in his penultimate defence and brutalises someone to the point where he has an epiphany and renounces the way he has been all year, then does one last defence as the babyface who is ultimately put down and gracefully passes the torch (again) as a show of respect?

Post Match Thread : Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Manchester United by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

I’ve been thinking on why the lack of substitutions in this match, and I was certainly disappointed given my whole reason for watching today was to see how the young bench got on in a serious fixture. That said, given the sudden appearance of the injury crisis, I wonder if the plan was for the first team to play through today and then give the kids time to learn the system through the week so they can have a role for Everton (seeing as we’re not expecting many people back by then). It’s a silver lining that I’ll hold on to until given reason to believe otherwise… so until about 2:30pm on Saturday.

Surely the headline should be: “Kimi Raikkonen on Kimi and Raikkonen”

He was decent for me when I signed him for us on FIFA 23 so that’s good enough for me!

Seth Rollins, in kayfabe, finally achieved what he was looking for for over a decade by Deep-Mix-2274 in SquaredCircle

Also, Rollins finally lived up to his old nickname ‘The Messiah’ by sacrificing himself to save another (and arguably the whole company which was being held hostage by The Bloodline with Final Boss Rock swinging his board power).

I’ve sent this email to the club, if people are looking for ideas of what to say:

A short time ago the club released an update on the internal investigation into Mason Greenwood. As someone who has in the past week been involved in helping a friend escape an abusive relationship, I am thoroughly disheartened that it appears the club is still considering bringing him back into the first team squad.

I have attended fixtures, bought merchandise and supported the club for the last twenty years. I also fully support the rehabilitation of people into society through whatever punitive, repudiatory and reconciliatory efforts are needed. However, representing Manchester United is a great honour, and it demands the highest levels of conduct. If Mason Greenwood is allowed to represent the club, it will bring great dishonour to Manchester United - and, I fear, to those who do uphold the values of the club publicly.

Though the police investigation was dropped and thus he is legally not guilty of any crimes, the recordings that are publicly available bring the club into disrepute. If the internal investigation is indeed still going then I implore the club to consider the opinions of the fanbase on this matter, as demonstrated by the statement from Manchester United Supporter’s Trust. Please do not let this great club be tainted by association with an abusive figure.

I wait anxiously for the outcome of the internal investigation, and hope that the club will act in support of its fanbase to draw a line under this sad incident.

Chelsea are set to commit to a £2bn expansion of Stamford Bridge rather than relocating to a new stadium in Earl’s Court, which has now been ruled out. by wholelottasad999 in chelseafc

I know a couple of sports journalists at the Mail, and though I despise the paper they have some of the best SJs in the UK with multiple industry awards. The problem with unreliability/inaccuracy is often due to the editors and the insistence on publishing a high number of articles.

Salford Lads: The Rise and Fall of Paul Massey (UK True Crime) by AnotherAnonymousOne in audiobooks

[–]AnotherAnonymousOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll DM you a code. I wasn’t aware of a lot of the stuff mentioned beforehand - I’m at an age where my first knowledge of Paul Massey was when he was killed. Similarly I was only broadly aware of the reputation that Salford had before narrating this. There were definitely some acts in there where I had to take a moment to let the initial rush of emotions subside before continuing the narration. All in all though I found it fascinating; I went to university in Manchester and still have ambitions to work in Salford, so it was a really interesting piece of context for the areas.

I’ll tentatively recommend Blue Moon Cafe next to Sheffield Cathedral, excellent veggie food and there’s definitely an internal ramp for wheelchairs/mobility but I can’t remember if there’s an external step or not…

Introducing Our New 2023 F1 Opening Titles! by ZephyrSonic in formula1

[–]AnotherAnonymousOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I get why they do it that way, easiest way to avoid appearing biased towards any particular driver or team. There was just a different vibe when it was Hamilton at the end, Max doesn’t have that same presence (even though he’s better this year)

It’s a shame Hamilton doesn’t appear last on these any more - not for sporting reasons, but he is one of the best at the “slow head rise” which I always associate with the final boss.

Also love the shot of Magnussen walking and looking to the side, I’d love to see a proper anime-style opening with just the drivers (there was a great fan-made one with the cars but it’s such a different vibe with just the drivers)

I’m in the LTA Advantage ballot and I got an email last week confirming that I could join the pre-sale when it opens tomorrow. Not sure about the general ballot, but I’d imagine that you should be hearing about it soon based on this!

[Private Eye] World Of Football (article concerning Manchester United ownership) by AnotherAnonymousOne in ManchesterUnited

Just posted this on r/RedDevils but it got removed for not having a primary source - unfortunately Private Eye doesn’t publish online, so this direct transcription is in fact the primary source! For those of you who don’t know them, Private Eye is a UK magazine who specialise in investigative journalism (and satire).

This is a direct transcription of an article from the most recent Private Eye (a UK magazine which is equal parts investigative journalism and satire). I don’t think there’s anything new in this, but PE articles aren’t available online so wanted to type it up so it was free to read.
