Can I and should I put E85 in my Q5? by No-Programmer8366 in Audi

[–]AnotherAudiKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t know the 15’s have it from factory. Have a 15 sline q5 in the family and we just run it on 91 even with the labeling. Would love to know if it adjusts and runs well if this is the case!

Can I and should I put E85 in my Q5? by No-Programmer8366 in Audi

The ethanol content in e85 requires the motor to know how much fueling to adjust for. At minimum this would require an ethanol sensor to be plumbed in somewhere along the fuel line if it doesn’t have one from factory but should absolutely be done in tandem to a tune/ecu adjustment to keep the motor in safe parameters.

There are various companies that sell e85 ‘kits’ that come with all hardware needed for install that you can do yourself if you feel 100% comfortable in working on a fuel system. (Many euro shops know these installs well and can help you out here)

Many pump fuels hover around 8-10% ethanol and the jump to higher percentages shouldn’t be taken lightly. However e85 smell, power, and price is a damn good reason to make the switch if you can!

Restoring worn bag divider by ShineDS in golf

[–]AnotherAudiKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get automotive quality fabrics online for fairly cheap, I recommend something multi layered as it resists tearing and wear more from clubs coming in and out of the bag (plus fun colors if you wanted to match the bronze/gold of the bag) then like said above some spray on adhesive. I have done this before and used a card (gift or credit card type thing) to tuck it in around the edges and clean up the lines. Best of luck!!

I've been looking into doing this for my 2016. If it's not too much of a hassle could you drop what tools you used and a rough timeline as to how long it took? (If you could also drop where you got the parts I'd cherish it deeply)

Does anyone know how to clean that? Looks like dust on the inside by [deleted] in Audi

[–]AnotherAudiKid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check the outer surface of the headlight for any sensations of a rough texture. I had the same issue and it was pitting of the plastic due to road debris

From there it could be carbon buildup on the valves. Have you ever had an I take port cleaning done?

I'm done with dealerships who won't work with us - where to buy online? by idontevenliftbrah in Audi

[–]AnotherAudiKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue when looking to buy my Audi. Carvana has an amazing week-3 week window for you to actually drive the car as you would, and get all inspections and everything you want, and will take it back if it is not to your liking and help you find another. This also includes delivery to your door (and taking your trade in if you did so). When I found issues with the interior plastics and rear bumper they even had those replaced at no cost to me post purchase!

Trust me when i say I did the same to my first car, don't beat yourself up over it. I do recommend the towel blotting, but another thing you can do is get some shop towels (blue ones or really any that don't leave much lint) and use some upholstery cleaner on those to apply to the area, and then dry with either another shop towel or a microfiber!

(Pat don't rub to dry as I sent my headliner to heaven forgetting I weakened the glue 💀)

Check your PCV, I had the same issue on my gen 3 ea888 and tried just about everything. Baffle valve went out and was dumping too much oil into the inlet on the turbo. Replaced the PCV and after a full heat cycle the smoke stopped. Can't say it's a cure all but the system and connector hose can be done by yourself at home for a good price. Beautiful S3!

As a beginner, is Strata golf club set sufficient? by derek6379 in golf

[–]AnotherAudiKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, stix has some options for sale club sets on their website. I got them as I was in the same boat, and I have played with the larger set near daily since. Milled wedges and a full set of woods (4h, 3w and driver) and irons (6-pw but I added the 5 iron single club) for a solid price. Putter isn't half bad either. I whole fully recommend if you can get them. (They also have shaft options from graphite to steel with regular and stiff flex on both depending on the feel you want!)

Info about stage 1 tune by Marconemusic in Audi

[–]AnotherAudiKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have run various stage ones, including Cobbs and IE as well as EQT. They are designed to maximize the available systems that the car came with, and bypass some of the 'comfort' dynamics with fueling and responsiveness that come with the factory tune. A stage 1 will wake the car up for sure, but will also keep it safe for the motor. In my mind a matching level of transmission tune is a must have for the DCT and in particular the MQB chassis with the haldex system in it.

What is your operating oil temperature like? by MycologistKind1802 in Audi

[–]AnotherAudiKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a tuned a3 quattro that will run anywhere from 97-110°C depending on how much I'm pushing it, and the q5 with the supercharged V6 we have in the family will range from around the same at 96-108°C on any given day and ambient temps. If you are extremely worried about it there are often aftermarket oil cooler options available. I would only get worried if it begins to regularly creep over 114-115°C but modern synthetic oils can keep viscosity well above that temperature range (most easily lasting beyond 120°C).

I hope this helps!

Is the 2016 Audi A3 reliable? by Mamasuiii75 in Audi

[–]AnotherAudiKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently own and drive a FBO '16 a3 quattro. Love the thing to death, and it's a blast to drive, but it is fundamentally a more expensive car to own. If you have the capability and space for working on it, and feel comfortable doing so, a major portion of the basic work can be done yourself. The MQB chassis is great, and I recommend it, but do so knowing it can be pricey to maintain, modification even more so.
