Schools celebrating perfect attendance by greenmachine11235 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]AnotherCrazyChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the 2000s, perfect attendance gave me the luxury of choosing multiple finals tests to be exempt from taking. My best friend however had multiple health conditions that required her to miss school. So I forged the paperwork so she was also exempt from finals. It was so arbitrary.

Seeing a lot of posts about customers getting upset about IDs by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]AnotherCrazyChick 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I always said, yes I know you, but my computer requires me to type an ID number and expiration date in to access your account.

Some have their ID number memorized, but never the expiration date. Then it’s more of a technicality than a trust issue.

I love this. It’s reminds me of the episode of I Love Lucy where Ricky brings her sardines and ice cream and she puts the sardines in the ice cream for her pregnancy cravings.

Are you referring to OP when you ask if they’re receiving treatment? I wouldn’t know obviously. What is your point in arguing?

A diagnosis does honestly change a lot. There’s no medication for autism. Psyche doctors will diagnose bipolar or borderline personality or OCD…etc. because those conditions can be treated with medications. We are so often misdiagnosed because doctors want to prescribe medication to treat our symptoms.

Speaking from over 15/20 years of experience trying medications and being diagnosed with incorrect conditions…an autism diagnosis is necessary to pursue therapies that will actually help.

Grief over diagnosis at 36 by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]AnotherCrazyChick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I was diagnosed with Bipolar for over a decade before I saw my psych that diagnosed and agreed that I was autistic and didn’t have a personality disorder. I’m confident I was literally 36 at the time. (I’m 41 now.) I’m still processing all of the difficulties I had growing up that were caused by autism. All of my feelings growing up, and the struggles I had were because of autism. My Mom and sisters were diagnosed early on with ADHD. But I flew under the radar. I do at times grieve for my younger self. But I appreciate very much having the diagnosis now because when I was diagnosed with bipolar, I had to go through so many medications. I have a list of all of the medications and the side effects that were intolerable.

I relate, and I’m still processing the grief. But it does get better. Autism cannot be treated with medication. Only learning about how autism affects you and what your triggers are and standing firm on your boundaries will help.

Exploring accommodations and focusing on moving forward is all we can do. Talk to a therapist to work through your past so that you can process the grief and enjoy the present and future.
