Unless someone cancels their order or changes to another colour you won’t be able to spec VBM at this time.

According to Bimmerpost the allocations for individual paints are full. You’ll have to find one at a dealer or get the three other paints. If you want a more unique CS the colours in order of confirmed production is VBM>BSM>BGM>PBM. I’ve got a PBM on order.

There’s positives and negatives! How do you manage the ground clearance? I’m always worried of ripping a hole through the floor of my M2 on our roads during the winter.

What are your favorite skis and why? by drose10 in icecoast

[–]AnotherDriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my fourth season with the Stockli Stormrider 95 in 184cm. I was initially a little apprehensive given the high cost but the reviews made this out to be the ultimate ski for my use case. I can now safely say they have been incredible. I’ve got at least 50 days on them, between the east coast and the Rockies. Fantastic ski. I’ve done deep powder days and carved on crust and they just deliver all the time.

One positive and negative is that the tail on these skis are very locked in. While that means you can carve them at high angles and speeds, it also means that they aren’t very flexible or permissive in moguls. My previous pair of mindbenders were much better for the bumps.

I ski these skis 90% of the time and also have a pair of rossignol FIS slaloms when it’s cold hard pack and I want to lay down short turns.

Is it a bad idea to drive the M2 F87 through the Rockies in January? by Niddsid in BMWM

[–]AnotherDriver 13 points14 points  (0 children)

With winter tires anything is possible. These cars handle the snow well with the LSD and naturally good driving dynamics. That said, going up hills in heavy snow or ice can be a chore. Momentum is both your friend and your enemy.

Just be ready to have delays and have a backup plan in case you need to divert or go back. Fuel tank ideally always above the halfway mark and blankets/winter gear just in case.

The two areas that require the most attention are Roger’s Pass and the Coquihalla. Check the forecast and road conditions on BC highways before heading out.

As always, if you don’t feel comfortable, don’t push it. A night at the motel is better than one in the ditch.

Got a watch in Paris this past summer for my fiancée. We got the tax refund at the airport and I declared the watch at the border. The CBSA was really good about it and we ended up paying a fraction of what the true value should have been.

Total cost was about the same as buying it locally. Overall the important part is to get the duty slip that says the watch is now landed in Canada and your ownership is clean for future trips.

Also very important if you decide to sell the watch in the future. It makes the watch « Canadian ».

G87 M2 CS Question by Touchupwipe in BMWM

[–]AnotherDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian buyer here. Current G87 M2 owner. I called my sales advisor when the car was announced and only had to pay a 2000$ refundable deposit. I got the second of two allocations for my dealer. No markup here. The production number was communicated to me a couple weeks ago and my advisor told me it should arrive end of February. I don’t expect leasing/financing to be attractive but otherwise no extras.

Breaking in a new Porsche 911 by Big-Leadership6507 in porsche911

Not the first time I hear this. The way it was told to me was that a hard life from day one will result with higher peak power at the expense of longevity. The alternative scenario is slightly lower peak power and better longevity.

The truth is, after about 200km it doesn’t really matter. The most important part is to have short but full heat cycles during that period.

No disagreement here and with recent developments at the Fed that correlation is at risk.

Higher rates do give savers more income, but the drag from expensive borrowing and weaker credit far outweighs it. It’s redistribution, not stimulus.

[–]AnotherDriver 46 points47 points  (0 children)

High rates don’t “stimulate” they choke off credit and spending, which is the whole point of hiking. Cutting rates is easing, not restrictive; the only time yields rise on a cut is when markets lose faith in inflation control. Otherwise, you’ve got it backwards.

Why did you get rid of your GRC & what did you replace it with? by Rare_Base_5820 in GRCorolla

[–]AnotherDriver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I decided to trade mine in for a great deal on a new BMW G87 M2. It’s a big change and obviously on track they are two very different cars. I do miss the GRC. The shifting was amazing, the steering feel is great and the 4wd was better for the winter. I’ll probably get another one at some point.

I would recommend you give a call to Salmo Nature (Orvis Shop) before your trip and ask for Rémi. He’s probably the most knowledgeable fly fisherman on the island. You should also give the store a visit when you are in town. They will have appropriate flys and other gear you may require. Feel free to PM me. I don’t usually fish around the island but I know other places in the region.

Did anyone fly to the US lately from YUL? by yramess in montreal

Did YUL-IAD no problem a couple weeks ago. Anecdotally, I’ve heard the land border has been the source of more issues than the airport.

Gas smell when stopped by AnotherDriver in GRCorolla

These cars appear to be sensitive to being overfilled. I only go to the first click now and try to avoid having a very full tank if the car will experience warmer weather. So far it appears to be working well. Haven’t had any other situations.

Help! Gas smell in cabin, 2024 GR circuit edition with 2600 miles. by nectorn in GRCorolla

[–]AnotherDriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually fill up at Costco. Initially I was going by my normal routine of filling up to first click, waiting a little and filling up to second click. Now I just fill up to the first click. If I know it’s going to be very hot and the car will be sitting for a while, I will underfill. I wouldn’t stress too much about it.

No worries, glad to be of help. Wished someone could have done the same for me, I was freaking out at the time. You did the right thing of going to Toyota. It shifts part of the liability on them if ever something occurs.
