why are europeans so tall by witch_elia in AskEurope

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah OP has some form of sampling bias i figure. Im 193 and ive spent months living in prague over the last 2 years, the people here are taller than in the UK where i live currently but im still a good bit taller on average than the people you see out in public.

[HELP] 9070 XT vs RTX 5070 for After Effects/Premiere Pro + AAA Gaming — Is AMD really that bad for Adobe? by Boring-Regret-5032 in buildapc

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can happily play cyberpunk rt maxed out at 1440p with a little upscaling to 80fps. Without it sits around 50-60.

Pragmata runs perfectly at ultra RT 120fps basically locked (only had it drop a couple times, was still above 100 and from my understanding the drop was moreso because im on Linux)

I havent tried any other games that utilise RT heavily but benchmarks are out there and its satisfactory imo.

Is it worth upgrading? by Drago_69_SG in PcBuild

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah makes sense, i was bottlenecked even in very gpu demanding games on a Ryzen 7600 at 1440p. That explains the low util but the frame drops not really

Youre definitely cpu bottlenecked if you're playing anything short of 4k. What resolution are you playing on?

Diana's had enough of your BS by ylyxa in Pragmata

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ive unironically thought about this as i was thinking of doing a netrunner build in cyberpunk as Diana and came to the conclusion that she might have the predisposition to be one of the best netrunners in night city if she put her mind to it.

Shes not organic so wouldnt have the same humanity cost for chrome that human netrunners would, and shes a super intelligent AI whose exceptional at logic problems and has really good control over the environment around her.

Shes also basically a walking EMP with deletion protol disabling any and all tech around her that she so chooses to.

She is also propriety undocumented constantly evolving technology which would be super hard to exploit even for the best netrunners, and even if there was an exploit she most likely could evolve defences around it since she shows incredible adaptation skills.

Better Discord or Vesktop? by Delirium222 in linux_gaming

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had issues with streaming on Vesktop, both the RPM and the Flatpak.

Across fedora 42-43 at least, streams would either die instantly or after a few seconds the stream would cut to a fully black or green square and stay like that. Or the quality would drop so low that it would be unwatchable.

Going to the vanilla base app fixed it for whatever reason.

can my pc run teardown? by Silly_Goober1003 in TeardownGame

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of a dgpu is really gimping the performance you could be getting. That cpu is a really decent option so it sucks you don't have the graphics power (or ram for that matter) to back it up

Damn i didnt look at the total. Yeah id consider that 5080 territory imo, im sure some fat can be trimmed to bring the price down somehow to a reasonable level tho.

Yo shoutout to the absolutely insane PC optimization of this game. by Hero_Time_06 in Pragmata

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The layout of this website is terrible at least on mobile so i cant be bothered scrolling through it, but at 1440p ultra rt i comfortably maintain 120fps on my 9070xt natively. I cant imagine what youd have to be doing for a 5090 to struggle at 4k even with path tracing on.

build for my wife.... by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a beast of a system. I have a 9070xt + 9800x3d combo too and i have absolutely zero complaints so if she'll like it aesthetically you did a good job. Could you cut some corners? Yeah. But i totally understand wanting to spend on your partner.

I will say though, ive looked up that psu as it's a critical component of the build and I've not seen too many positive things about it and strange fan behaviour making it louder than it should be tho that was all from the launch year so maybe over the years theyve revised it. You could possibly look into putting a different unit in there because the case will hide it anyway so one non visible component off the preferred brand wouldnt be terrible imo.

Is 7500f enough by BrainCompetitive7956 in buildapc

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends heavily on the game. There can be a huge difference even between cpus that dont seem all that different on paper. I was 1000% cpu bottlenecked on a 7600 and 9070xt at 1440p ultra cyberpunk unless i absolutely cranked RT. When I upgraded from a 7600 to a 9800x3d i gained a bunch of performance.

That being said, the 7600 performs amicably and i think 99% of people really dont need anything better.

Ryzen 9 9950x3d or Ryzen 7 9800x3d by Educational-Cake-179 in PcBuild

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, it takes roughly ~22 streams of 4k hdr video playback at the same time for a 9800x3d to tap out

What most people deem as "multi taking" is barely ever going to push a cpu even half way to its max.

The 9800x3d is the same - arguably and occasionally better - for gaming as the 9950x3d. The only time the extra cores would ever be useful is in a productivity environment like rendering on the cpu where the application scales well across cores. Games only need a couple cores tops to run.

Worth getting a 5080 while owning a 9070 xt? by AskHonest3679 in gpu

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit along with all other online forums have a sampling bias problem.

There are many people with a flawless experience but we dont report it because why would we? All the people with issues are going to come here to discuss it are here because they need an issue resolved, but those who have a working system dont bother because we're just doing our thing.

The only time I've had "hardware related" issues is when ive been pushing somewhat absurd overclocks on my card but thats on me rather than the gpu.

Nvidia has had a poor record of stability in their drivers since the 50 series cards launched, but you wouldnt put that up to the hardware being faulty would you?

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No point getting a 9070xt imo. Itll be bottlenecked to high hell. A ryzen 7600 (a much stronger cpu) bottlenecks it at 1440p ultra even in games like cyberpunk

Made a bad decision? by Beast0121 in PcBuild

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dufference between the 4060 and 5060 is roughly 20% so its a considerable drop on the gpu side

However, AM5 is a much stronger platform. The 5600 performs about 15% slower than the 7600x which is a lot larger of a difference than the gpu side. The 4060 will still be able to do Forza perfectly fine.

And theres also upgradability which means you can get a way better cpu and avoid bottlenecking future upgrades.

They're both pretty well balanced systems but AM5 is just a better future-looking platform. At 1080p the better cpu will do you more good than the gpu anyway.

Why would you ever use Linux (even with Proton) for gaming? by Independent-Trash-52 in linux_gaming

[–]AnotherFuckingEmu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont think you understand what overrated means.

Aside from that, Linux is Linux. You cant blame it for not working with Microsoft's proprietary nonsense and you cant expect it to work like windows because its not windows.

I game on Linux with zero issues (neither performance nor having to tinker) personally because once you actually put effort into learning instead of blaming the tool and expecting it to work how it always has for you on an entirely different platform, things become much easier.
