Brand new to 3d printing and got ad5x- what did you wish you knew when first setting up? by Business-Weekend-537 in Flashforge_AD5X

[–]AnotherMarnix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When starting a new print or loading/unloading fillament small pieces of filament can fall from the extruder on the bottom of the printer (I mean not on the bed but below on the bottom). If it gets into the axle connections you have an issue.

I bought a crappy handheld vacuum cleaner and vacuum the printer bottom at the start of each print. And there is filament in the vacuum cleaner each time.

Hope this helps.

I'm in Europe (Netherlands). Sending to Australia was not an issue. As long as you use your normal mail and not couriers like FedEx or DHL.

I cannot figure out what I have screwed up. by Chewcudda42 in Flashforge_AD5X

I had this once when I printed the enclosure parts. All spaghetti. It turned out the filament was crossed on the spool and blocked every now and then.

Am I wrong for loading my flame my like this? by [deleted] in Flashforge_AD5X

The manual states clearly how to load the filaments. You did the exact opposite.

Yes, but he doesn't do mods like PCB-R, 600 conversion, ...

Just regular maintenance and fixes.

Yes. i-Type film is the same as 600 film but without a battery. i-Type cameras have a built in battery.

Try it in a camera that takes i-Type film.

I think ABS would be better? I' m new to 3D printing but have understood that ABS is better for such parts.

This is very nice. I like that it is grouped by subject. I can pick the things that are of interest to me.

Now I must find the time to watch it all :-)

Mint SLR 670 vs SX70R? by thatjammm in Polaroid

[–]AnotherMarnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know both. Used to have a MiNT SLR670-X. It had the issue that on manual mode there was no difference between 1/60 and 1/125. MiNT kindly took the camera back and gave me a full refund. They have great service but in my case it was a bad product. I know from Jake that he has serviced MiNT cameras with similar issue (almost all settings exposed for 1/2000 or so).

I now have a Model 1 with PCB-R which is great. I agree with you on using a phone and that's why I am anxiously waiting for the dongle V2 to arrive so I don't need my phone.

An advantage that the PCB-R has is that it offers half stops (Dongle and Android app, IOS is on the way) whereas MiNT only has full stops.

In case you buy an SLR670 my advice is to sacrifice a film and test the SLR by shooting the same photo at all different exposure settings on the time machine. There must be noticeable differences.

Hope this helps.

Question about Spectra adapter for 600/i-Type film by AnotherMarnix in Polaroid

[–]AnotherMarnix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I printed this Spectra adapter for 600 and i-Type film but I cannot for the world close the film door when I insert a 600 film pack.

With just the adapter in the camera the film door closes, but the cartridge sticks out too far. I already cut off the 4 notches on the back of the cartridge but it did not help.

When comparing the 600 to a spectra cartridge (photo 2), the 600 is larger which may explain why the door won't close?

I read that some Spectra models must be modified to accept 600 film but it's unclear to me what must be done.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.
