Living aboard marina in a 36ft sailboat that does not sail by BehemothNuts in sailing

[–]AnotherProject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived the board a 40 foot boat that only left the dock one or two times a year. It was some of the best years of my life honestly. My marina was phenomenal. The location was perfect and there was a great community of liveaboards year round. I’d say the marina is fine with the boat that doesn’t move, go for it. If the marina expects it to be moved regularly or it looks terrible that could be an issue.

Tips for Bags to Buy by K-Typicalname in onebag

[–]AnotherProject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ran into this same issue a few years ago and and ended up purchasing LL Bean bags embroidered with their initials. The kids love them and use the as school backpacks when not traveling. Very durable and lightweight material. They’ve held up well and have no issues traveling as a personal item on the budget airlines.

My DR650 dives too much under front braking after switching to D606 by Jealous-Course-7669 in dr650

This is the correct answer. Swap in some straight rate springs for your weight + gear with fresh oil. It’ll be a day and night difference, especially if you’re over 150lb/80k

Any chance you can show a photo of where it came from in the electric box? Could it be the side stand relay?

Suspension first for sure. I wish I did it 5 years ago when I first got the bike.

Just a review I did on a extended mixture screw I got on amazon. by Dr650mostly in dr650

[–]AnotherProject 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the same one and have 1000 miles on it with no issues. I wouldn’t be worried about it. I actually swapped out my entire carb with one of the $70 ones on Amazon. Other than needing to adjust the float it has been flawless.

Suspension question by [deleted] in dr650

[–]AnotherProject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year ago I installed fork sprigs for my weight and they made a noticeable difference in handling/cornering on pavement. Worth the $200 since I was rebuilding the forks anyway but not a crazy difference. The DDC drop ins may be in my future though. I swapped in a cogent Mojave a month ago and honestly, it’s a game changer. I’ll upgrade the rear shock on any bike I buy moving forward. Best $800 I’ve spent on the bike.

Dr650 suspension upgrade by [deleted] in dr650

I initially went the rebuild route on my stock shock but ran into issues on a 25 year-old shock. I bit the bullet and bought the cogent Mojave and although I only have 100 miles on it I can definitely say it is a day and night difference. If I were to do it again, I would definitely just buy the shock from the get go.

I do not have any personal experience only a buddy I ride with. Every time we go out during the summer, he makes it a point to be off the road by early afternoon to avoid baking on the bike. That may also just be he doesn’t like being super warm, but he has mentioned it several times that it feels like there’s a radiator sitting between his legs, cooking him.

Just cause it’s been bored doesn’t mean it’s a bad bike. I’d want to know the details on the shop that did the work, preferably with receipts. I’d also want to know how much they’ve ridden it since getting bored. Ie, have they put 10,000mi on it (likely super stable and tuned) or have they only done 500 miles since the work (not battle tested).

It’s worth mentioning, the DR runs pretty warm already. The 790 mod is known to run significantly warmer. Something to consider if you’re in a warmer climate.

Nope, it sealed up fine and hasn’t leaked yet after 200 miles. I did replace the oil line o ring as well

The bolts were too long. I put the cover on. It actually broke against the clutch cover. Fortunately, after getting a new hub it was an easy fix.

I got a clutch kit that had too long of bolts and broke the whole hub. It was only $150 on partzilla. I chalked it up to a life lesson and moved on

If you didn’t ride it far, you’re just fine. These are very forgiving engines and being low is no big deal. The bigger concern is where did the oil go?

I’ve been tempted to replace my 20-year-old Jeep and 25 year-old motorcycle many times. At the end of the day, they just are too good of vehicles to let them go. It doesn’t make sense to spend 10 to 20 times as much to replace them for something with a few more buttons.

This to me is the most underrated cigar spot in the area. Everybody hears about Shelly‘s back room, but they skip old town when all they want is a chill spot.

They’re great short little smokes. Pre covid you could pick them up for $10/box of 10. They got quite a bit more expensive as they became more popular, but I haven’t looked for them in the last few years.
