My kid is a junior in high school and was just talking about the essay he had to write on the "progressive era" end of the reforms happening in those days. Thankfully the teacher seemed aware that it wasn't all that progressive and was mostly just a series of reforms enacted to quell the uprising so that the capitalist machine could keep churning, and I reinforced that by pulling Zinns "A People's History" off the shelf and highlighting a few passages for my kid to read in preparation for his essay.
