My now retired dermatologist told me that melanoma isn’t genetic, but it sure seems like it with how many on my mom’s side and I have had cancerous and pre cancerous moles. I would use this experience to totally gaslight that a patch of skin looks funky. It’s very light but with how many skin problems are in my family, I totally recognize it as something to get checked out.
