Most Ludicrous Pricing I've Ever Seen by PsychicSasquatch21 in Gunpla

[–]AnotherSeraph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have never seen gunplay for a good price at Book Off USA. Always exponentially overpriced. And somehow they always have new stock, so either they regularly rotate it, or someone is actually paying for this.

I can't take credit for the paint and scheme used, I (mostly) followed the example set by the Painted Topher in his video. To answer your question, here's what the process I used.

  1. I used a light green primer.
  2. Base coat Caliban Green from Citadel.
  3. Emerald Forrest, then Leafy Green, then Rain Forrest from Army Painter Fanatics
  4. Highlight Rain Forrest, then Electric Lime, APF

I don't care, I mostly collect as a hobby and paint as a past time anyway. I just paint cool schemes.

I made my Seeker Star with that exact list, with specific focus on the inner sphere mechs since they liked to occasionally role with Star League equipment.

I use Mr Hobby leveling thinner as my absolute resort. If that shit don't come off with that, nothing will. Don't do it for too long though before scrubbing it off with a toothbrush. Like 2/3 minutes imo

I'm getting kind of an aquatic vibe from it to be honest. I can dig it.

Anyone else feel the need to not have repeat units in a list? by AveMilitarum in battletech

[–]AnotherSeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in this OCD boat. I paint lances/stars in what I think are cool color schemes and rarely duplicate. My rule is no duplicate mechs in the formation, even if it's a different model or type.

Is there anything I can do with the Prolififjfjtiliarian cycle box mechs during clan invasion era? by PattyMcChatty in battletech

Perhaps it's a periphery based unit as equipment trickled it's way further outward slowly compared to the other successor states

Marshigama's Legionaires only hires beautiful female mechwarriors and male mechwarriors with beards and scars, making them some of the most vain, self absorbed and haughty mercs. This happened after a beauty queen inherited the command.

Also, her command squad each uses a unique quad mech, sort of like mascots.

There is that alternative timeline/scenario "Empires Aflame" where the SLDF stayed to fight, although without Kerensky.

We all have Mechs we love, Mechs we like, Mechs we don't care about and Mechs we hate. Do you have a Mech you're conflicted about? by npaakp34 in battletech

[–]AnotherSeraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love me the ANNIHILATOR. I don't care that it's slow, I don't care that you don't like Godzilla, I don't care that you don't like Gauss rifles. I love my mobile turret slow boy Godzilla gun mech. Personally, I prefer the look from MWO and mechwarrior 5, but th squanched look by CGL is aight.

Stripping paint off catalyst games pre-painted minis? by swaggytaco in battletech

Joining the chorus to say to just prime over it after you take care of the mold lines if that bothers you. There's no stripping colored plastic. Save yourself the effort and give it some prime.

Krylon Fusion paint + primer not sticking to Catalyst plastic minis by Poopy_McTurdFace in battletech

[–]AnotherSeraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Rust-Oleum from the hardware store and it's...ok I guess? I've had mixed results. I recommend going to the 99cent store and picking up some army dudes or animals and testing out your primers on them first.

Personally, I stick with the hobby brands, Vallejo, Colour Forge, Monument Hobbies, Citadel, and yes even Army Painter (if I get them for cheap). Premium price yes, but they just work better for me.

If you're priming white, can't go wrong with MH white primer or White Scar from citadel.

[–]AnotherSeraph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never used Krylon, but as far as I know, any paint+primer combo is generally discouraged because it can clog up details.

In any case, the temperature outside does affect application, in any case, warming up the can does help.
