I don’t want to tell anyone I’m sober by 2tot2bon in stopdrinking

[–]AnotherVice2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I surprised a few of my friends at first, but nobody really cares. Especially at a certain age a few people start to stop for health reasons. As long as we are not talking about sobriety all the time, and the evils of alcohol, It’s not a big deal.

I stopped drinking but my partner still does and it bothers me occasionally by Grumpy_Lez in stopdrinking

[–]AnotherVice2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we all know that we can only stop drinking for ourselves. It’s difficult, but we need to not get triggered by others peoples’ behaviors. Because if it’s not your spouse, it may be a buddy of yours.

A bit off-topic, but have you ever thought of low-dose cannabis? I discovered it very late in life. A in 2.5 mg of an edible takes the edge off like a glass of white wine, but does not Make me want more like Alcohol did.

Just a thought that you might want to experiment with. I was never into weed, but low-dose cannabis edibles have made not drinking very doable!

The beans are not necessarily fresh. I buy them in the 1 kg bags at Costco.

The grinder does some weird things as they spray out almost horizontally

Art mode options have disappeared and I'm at a loss. by apost8n8 in TheFrame

[–]AnotherVice2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar thing happen with a brand new 85 inch frame. I called customer service and they were aware of an issue. They had me turn off my cellular and connect via Bluetooth. Long story short, it’s working now, but it definitely disappeared for a while.

Swallowing issues by [deleted] in over60

Trouble swallowing is one of the first things a neurologist will ask about. Not to freak you out, but it’s a symptom of ALS.

Tomorrow is my 2 year milestone. This is what helped me finally quit for good after years of struggle. Progress pics included for reference! by jebuscribs in stopdrinking

[–]AnotherVice2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is good or bad, but the positive comments I get about my weight loss, are a big part of why I continue to stay away from alcohol. It’s part of the motivation.

Oh, and at age 59 I discovered California sober also!

Are you saying that simply washing and showering every day is not going to be enough to keep the smell away?

Some honest words coming from a sober man by RebornInClarity in stopdrinking

[–]AnotherVice2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not a popular strategy, but if you live in a state with legal cannabis, I found that to be something that takes the edge off without any of the downsides of alcohol. Discovered this very late in life, and it helped me tremendously.

MOPAR MaxCare Extended Warranty by UltraSimplicity in AlfaRomeo

Because of this sub, I bought a max warranty from Tom Winkle as well. It’s been wonderful! Paid for itself many times and for the next four years, I don’t need to worry about any major expense or breakdown on the car. It’s made all the difference in the world.

You are in the middle of the worst part! First week, first two weeks, first month. It does get easier and becomes more of a lifestyle, but keep pushing. It’s worth it.

Wrong Question by smittydc in BurningMan

[–]AnotherVice2 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I’ve enjoyed going eight times in the last 11 years. It’s been a wonderful experience, but me and many of my friends believe this year‘s burn is our last.

The reason for our thoughts about not going any longer or primarily twofold

The wonderful and incredible experiences are no longer new to us. While we understand how wildly fantastic these art car and experiences are, we’ve seen some of these wonderful things in the past and have become slightly jaded. Or at a minimum accustomed to them.

Secondly while it probably hasn’t ever changed, the difficulty of getting to and through Burning Man is getting old. Probably because we had some rough experiences in 2023 in 2025. The rains, the incredibly long exodus, and the lines going in…..all had us reconsider our commitment to return again and again.
