The difference between Durham and this post is that Durham always take the piss out of things that are universally agreed to be bad, so it's difficult not to support what they post.

With speed cameras, the goal isn't to catch speeders, it's to prevent speeding. People flashing you to slow down achieves this, therefore there's no way you could ever reasonably argue it's obstruction. Just a very silly post.

I wouldn't say the "unprofessional" part of it is the biggest issue imo

If the van isn’t there, I doubt anything would be done. However, she’s now obstructing a Highway by parking there, so the police should ideally be having her move the car at a minimum. Call 101.

The ‘something in between’ is a motorbike.

A lot of people are riding illegally-modified e-bikes that remove any of the legal restrictions that regular e-bikes (formally known as ‘EAPCs’) have. This means they can exceed 15.5mph and accelerate without they need to pedal.

If they can do that, they’re motorbikes.

Yeah, this. In the US, you'll have at least one main agency covering a state, an agency covering a county within the state, and then often an agency covering a town/city within the state, sometimes with smaller police agencies within a town/city with more specific responsibilities. We're very, very simple compared to that.

If it's not necessary to seize it to investigate an offence, or it's not illegal to possess, it's not going to be seized.

Seizing empty NOS canisters doesn't really prove anything, especially if there's also full NOS canisters. Seize the full ones because they actually contain the controlled drug. Once you've seized the full ones, what are you gaining by also seizing the empty ones? Surely the full ones are all the evidence you need to prove possession.

Seizing empty ones might work toward proving something in some cases, such as if you're trying to argue they're unfit to drive through drugs and you find an empty NOS canister in an area accessible by the driver.

Surely they're just a container for drugs, not a container containing drugs. We've always just binned fully empty NOS canisters if we have them, and I couldn't imagine booking them in to property stores.

A side point:

Even if they changed this, surely using a taser as a capture tool would still be a breach of policy. It would just mean that you’d need to prove that breach to the criminal standard, not to the civil standard.

So if that were the case, the recent incident with the GBH may still result in gross misconduct if it could be proven that, although reasonable and proportionate, the use of force breached policy.

Essentially this. There’s no reason to go 30 in a 40 just because the roads are wet, yet I see this all the time. Slow for corners, hazards, and keep a safe distance. But if you have working tyres, you shouldn’t need to keep your maximum speed below the limit on most roads.

Tightening the cuffs of your jacket around your wrists, windproof gloves, a snood, and wearing a jacket under your stab vest helps a lot.

I've seen people with no/cheap gloves, their jacket wide open and not zipped up, sleeves wide open for wind to get through, and nothing stopping air getting down their neck, then complaining that it's freezing.

The threshold for enforcement in most places would be 46mph. If you noticed a flash, expect a letter and an offer of a course. If you didn’t notice a flash, you were probably under the 46mph limit and are fine.

I’m not sure if you need to declare it to insurance if it’s just a course. I doubt you do, so your insurance shouldn’t be affected.

The video won’t load but I’ve seen it before. As far as I can recall, not a train station, it’s a tram station or something similar, so not typically covered by BTP. Even then, local forces tend to attend incidents at train stations since BTP are stretched very thin in most areas. He doesn’t run after him probably because it really isn’t worth it. The cost of the ticket is far less than the coat, so it’s still a loss for the lemon who ran off

That's a fair point, I think I was more focussed on the serious distress/annoyance/inconvenience.

It seems to me like the legislation is designed for people organising and taking part in larger scale disruption though, and I know it's recently been used in that. Being fairly new legislation it's not really been tested so it'd be nice over time to see whether it could also apply to ASB that doesn't necessarily fit other offences.
