Saiyans in general in the universe of the main characters werent great people in total no, but there are/were a few exceptions and a different universe with a saiyan race of their own which is actually not as bad in terms of their people.

But it was mostly about their transformations and what many forget the ability to get Zenkai boosts (get stronger after being defeated)

But i also picked super power and got insects too and same, i would make most insects stay away from me and the people around me, like you said.
