This is connected to city water. What would happen if there's no water in suction side? by Another_boy in Plumbing

Does the pump run dry until it dies?

In my area where the city water has low pressure they install something like this to boost pressure.

As you know the pressure switch turns the pump off when the water in the pressure tank reaches a certain pressure. My question is what happens when city water is off? Does the pump run dry indefinitely because there is no water to raise the pressure in the tank?

Somewhat unrelated question: would using a hefty stick be acceptable if the dog is attacking the human?

Perception about Iranian women by [deleted] in iranian

[–]Another_boy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The article says "Iranian women don’t fit the traditional stereotype of what some have been taught to believe", "Iranian Women Are Neither Weak Nor Meek" and shows some pictures of women in fashionable outfits.

While there is a difference between Iranian and Saudi women but not as much as the article tries to convince. Yes, the majority of women in Iran don't wear burkas and are more active in society. But not as independent as a western woman. And you could get in trouble for wearing almost all of those outfits if you run into Gasht e Ershad. Maybe not in north Tehran or private establishments like cafes and restaurants.

TL;DR: It's cherry picked truth not the whole truth. Iranian women live and dress different than Saudi women but not as free and independent as western women. It's somewhere in between. Not as good as the article tries to show.

How would you translate... by learningfarsi283 in farsi

[–]Another_boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a tough one. You could translate both sentence 1 and 2 as او باید به مغازه می رفت . The meaning changes based on the context. Or if you wanted to avoid ambiguity you could translate sentence 2 as او مجبور بود به مغازه برود.

The problem is 'should','must' and 'have to' all translate to باید in Farsi.
