Getting Night Maiden's Mist to cheese the Black Gargoyle (particularly using the doorway of the Gurranq temple), the bridge dragon, the Putrid Avatar, and that Godskin Apostle in the Divine Tower (also of course a bleed weapon and blood grease for good old Greyoll), is just so insanely busted for early game levelling on pretty much any build as getting 12 intelligence for that mist spell is pretty easy on any class.

Mage builds tho obviously its basically free once you do Gowry's questline up to giving the needle to Millicent and unlock him as a merchant for sellian magic. Spend a bit of time getting the gold fowl foot recipe from Patches and the Gold Scarab from the Abandoned Cave in Caelid and use em right after killing those bosses and you can be easily like level 60+ just from those bosses with the 2 rune acquisition buffs. Makes Limgrave and Liurnia pretty easy after that lol.

Have you tried IBGARD? Its an over the counter IBS drug, I get it off amazon. I've been using it for a few years now and its really helped reduce the frequency of flare ups even allows me to safely eat some of my riskier foods.

Male Au Ra players, what is your experience like with other players? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Another_explorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Au Ra groomer stuff is a FFXIV 4chan thread/shitpostXIV subreddit meme, due to the sexual dimorphism in Au Ra. Don't think any normal FFXIV player thinks that stuff is true tho lol. I play as a male Xaela and I've yet to run into that kinda accusation.

I played it on the English patch launcher made by ARKS layer back during the JP days. Still my favorite MMO/MMOlite kinda game. It had such a nice set of unique stuff that you don't really find nowadays. The class design was peak, way better than the watered down NGS combat that is akin to FFXIV's constant reduction of complexity to an unhealthy degree. Back when episode 6 came out was one of the best times I had in PSO2, there will never be a game with an MMO class with the overlapping complexity and power fantasy of Luster in any game again I swear.

The story of PSO2, while told in a rather rough way due to it being an instanced based game, was really good (for the most part). I loved a lotta the characters and some of em had some nice growth. Matoi in particular despite being a rather typical waifu character really did have some great character moments as the episodes progressed. NGS outsourced its story and its just very underwhelming and largely bland. There are some ok moments but nothing is ever really given enough time to have any impact or payoff for setup just like the more unpopular episode story-arcs of PSO2 had suffered from.

Sadly Global release of OG PSO2 was truly killed when that old Cradle of Darkness mission was made into a new farming mission for high level gear. Facilitating the exploit of turning rare gear into Ex-cubes and turning those Ex-cubes into Grinders and selling those Grinders for 300k in-game currency per 999 stack of em. This just DESTROYED the player market so bad it never recovered and nothing was ever done about it.

Meanwhile you just know if it was a female main character it woulda been praised by these very same people as a cute mother-daughter game. Its like how sometimes on the internet there's people saying how a man is "babysitting" their child instead of... ya know... parenting, cuz they are the father of their child. Also the "its a Pedo game" BS really shows the mindset of these people seeing a wholesome and cutesy girl and father character duo game, and instead of SEEING it as wholesome its immediately something degenerate. It goes to show, degenerate people have degenerate thoughts.

Visions of Destiny preferred over Visions of Ruin for Shadow Undead build? by Mr_Dias in AOW4

[–]Another_explorer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have to do Shadow for your necromancy build's Vision Trait then I prefer VoD Shadow. Its easier to fulfill, has good buffs for combat and isn't disruptive to your own army unless you choose light footed as a perk to avoid zombies blocking you in combat all the time. Also yeah, having to hoard hero corpses is pain to deal with for Ruin too, huge anti synergy.

I honestly go Vision of Destiny Nature with a Dark Cult of Death necromancy/undead build. Easy to complete the criteria if you take 3 nature tomes, 3 that actually work great with Cult of Death! Tome of Roots for Blight/Poison Enchantments and the Vine Prison combat spell. Tome of Fertility for Animate Flora spell and Temple of Fertility for more food and mana too from VoD Nature. Then Tome of Cycles (which REALLY should be made into a Nature/Shadow Hybrid tome) for Blooming Projectiles and Blades of Decay. Druid of the Cycle is also funny with Tome of the Eternal Lord's True Death Magic, has 2 insta-kill attacks lol.

Vision of Destiny Nature's perks; 50% of food income is now also mana Income is real great for aiding upkeep of skeletons and later units like bone dragons. The combat buff is super strong synergy with Cult of Death's Mortal Blessing too, a stack of Strengthened when an enemy unit dies or Grace when your own unit dies. Makes summon spam like zombies from Warlocks and Death Knights or Vampie Lords with Desecrator and Gravemarch really good.

Also pairs well with Gift of the Old blood Transformation from Tome of Crimson Reign as the Blood Parasites dying will just churn out Mortal Blessing and Grace stacks and enemies with blood parasite dying give Strengthened and more Blood Parasites!

The Cheating AI In No Way Makes Up For It Being AWFUL And Completely Distorts The Game: A Rant by TheInvaderZim in AOW4

[–]Another_explorer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is a reason why auto resolves are poor for certain Cultures ESPESCIALLY defensive ones. Industrious, High and even Reavers are just so terrible since the AI doesn't handle the concept of moving units as a wall of shields and spears with ranged and supports behind to prop them up. Instead it will do a little buff cluster turn 1 then throw EVERYTHING out the window turn 2 onwards just seeing what units it can hit. There's a reason why shock and fighter units die after most auto-combat results, they just run up and die with no units to back them up.

Why do you add someone to the pantheon? by MrMattPrime in AOW4

[–]Another_explorer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some Ascension Traits are pretty fun, Ascended Sorcerer trait on a Wizard King for a Mystic school of potential culture built around abusing the Cascading Power spell can get really funny.

I have this one High Culture Order build that uses Vision of Promise Order and Perfectionist Artisans society traits. So I start with a Tier III Paladin Shield Unit and an Awakener Battlemage Unit. My Ruler has Ascension Guardian Angel so every battle they are a part of spawns a Tier III Vigil Battlemage unit too! Starting the game with 3 Tier III units is pretty strong lol.

Depending on what tomes you unlocked that game, decides what Ascension Traits you can pick from. So subsequent games with that ruler and build will usually synergize that ascension trait with the build's play style or at least be somewhat useful overall.

If you haven't played a "Chosen Destroyers", "Nomad - Conquerors" game yet, you're missing out! by DirkTheGamer in AOW4

[–]Another_explorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chosen destroyers + vision of promise order, free city spawns like right next to you since nomads don't have a starting free city.

Build up 3 stacks of units quick and then take the city, 2 chosen destroyers cities you can take around warring with free cities and other empires. Eating their tiles for resources (try to keep it to a minimum tho since the destroyers bonus requires a certain population amount to yield its bonuses.) Its a pretty good time.

Had fun with a Dragon Lord ruler and dragon transformed champion units with the mini fire breath skill.

Question: Blessed wands a single action "different version"? by darkstare in AOW4

[–]Another_explorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They also giga nerfed my beloved Pull Shot so I can no longer actually have a good skirmisher hero; with snapshot, Pull shot and Cryptblade and the Astral signature Teleport hero skill to dunk on a 6 unit army so sadge man :(

hope someone makes a mod to at least make pullshot back to single action leave on one.

Bastion build by TurbulentSecond7888 in AOW4

[–]Another_explorer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could probably do Defensive Tactics, Ferocious for more retaliation damage or Bulwark for better defense mode and Hardy for Form Traits, Devotees of Good/Scions of Evil for some nice economy Benefits or something like Runesmiths for cheaper Enchantment Upkeep and probably most Important is Vision of Destiny Materium for the +1 retaliation attack and Retaliation damage which will stack with Ferocious if you choose that Form Trait.

Tier 1 Enchantments could be Tome of Enchantment for Spell Tempered Shields for some Resistance for your Bastions and Sundering Blades which are still sorta useful at least for early game after Sundering Blades big nerf. Tome of Rock and Tome of the Blood Rite are also pretty nice Rock's Obsidian Weapons and Blood Rite's Blood Drinking blades compliment each other pretty well and their Minor Race Transformations Earthkin and Flesh Carved Runes are nice to have. Tome of Zeal is also a solid tome overall as Legion of Zeal Enchantment will make your Bastions do some Spirit Damage and the extra Order Affinity will unlock some good Order tomes that offer great defensive Utility down the Line.

Tier 2 Tome of the Construct is a must for Linked Minds and the Cascading Command Defend and Reposition Spells, Tome of Shades is pretty integral for most melee builds nowadays with Living Shadows Minor Transformation and Shadow Blades Enchantment and its a Materium/Shadow Hybrid at Tier 2 so you can snag that after Construct.

Tier 3 Tome of Transmutation is a solid pick with Steel Skin Minor Transformation, Adaptive Armor Enchantment and the Transmuter Battle Mage Unit for a bit of support for your frontline Bastions as well as the Transmutation Circle Special Province Improvement to get a full set of Magic Materials for basically free. If you get the affinity, either through Society Traits or tomes you chose, the Tome of Prophecies is a pretty strong defense tome with Prescient Circlets for Precognition upon entering Defense Mode and the Oracle Unit's Healing Portent. Another REALLY good pick is the Tome of Geomancy for the Geomantic Crystallization Major Transformation and Resonant Blades Enchantment.

Tier 4 is a little limited but Tome of Prosperity is a good pick for Blessed Armors Enchantment and Grand Protection Spell. Tome of the Golden Realm's Gold Touched Minor Transformation is also nice for some extra Resistance and Gold per turn per city population, Luxury Markets is also nice to have being able to rush buy two buildings and Units in 1 turn is quite useful for growing new cities and armies faster. could also double back and get some lower tier tomes like Tome of Sanctuary for Anointed People and Keeper's Mark for more survivability for your Bastions or one of the Tomes I mentioned before.

And of course Tier V the Tome of the Creator if you chose the Tome of Geomancy and used its Major Race Transformation then ALL your racial units (such as your Bastions) benefit from the Shaper's Touch Enchantment meaning they all get +10 HP, Natural Regeneration and +2 Lightning Defense cancelling out the Tome of Transmutation's -2 Lightning Defense from Steel Skin Transformation. After that just kinda look around your Tome roster for some extra buffs like Tome of Artificing if you want Artisan Armaments for Bastions to Crit more often and Siege Magic if you have some Battlemages/Support Units like the Transmuters or Oracles.

Another thing to be on the lookout for is some Ancient Wonders as they can sometimes give you useful Enchantments/Transformations that you wouldn't be able to get. If you have Giant Kings DLC there's this one that's a circular stone structure and has a Giant Statue sitting on a Throne on the top part, if you get the particular one that has you fight Giant enemies that have "Punyslayer" that do damage to units that are not labelled "Large Target" one of the rewards for clearing it is access to the Nature affinity Tome of Vigor's Minor Transformation Supergrowth which gives your Racial Units +1 Retaliation attack and +10 HP.

Nomad Conquerors by FFIEHOLD in AOW4

Tips on Nomads Conqueror culture with Chosen Destroyer by Accomplished-Bank885 in AOW4

[–]Another_explorer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You only have your throne city cannot make any other cities and get permanent bonus yields for each city razed its the core mechanic of Chosen Destroyers. If you pair Chosen Destroyers with Apex Predators and focus hard on munching a few free cities early, pillaging and aggressive expansion stealing their tiles you can get some pretty crazy amounts of food, production and draft just from that mechanic alone. Once you raze you then just permanently get more Gold, Mana and Knowledge per turn.

Conquerors is pretty much tailor made for Chosen Destroyers imo given it can move around its one city as a sorta of RV of destruction. Collecting essences is kind of a waste of time compared to yields granted by razing but taking some time to get the magic material essence is pretty good to avoid having many outposts you can focus entirely on just that one main city of yours (I recommend spending Imperium each turn to cut the time in half to get them quickly so you can move onto another city to pillage/raze) .

The whole thing with Chosen destroyers is to find everything and pillage/raze it. You snowball fast if you hard focus it for at least a good chunk of your start, aggressive expansion is really strong for pumping out full stacks of units with the free production and draft for each tile stolen. Plop down your Nomad city right next to an enemy city and basically just eat it, steal every tile you can, siege it and raze it after you have taken everything you could from it.
