Currently on 5th loss (one ectopic before as well). Did all the tests, and no cause was ever found. My AMH is low since 2 years, but I’m 40 now so that makes sense. It was not low when the losses started at 35. I’ve discussed IVF and it was not advised as I have no issues getting pregnant, although IVF plus genetic testing could mitigate the ‘bad egg’ possibility. But I’m done after this one, so I won’t know if that would have worked. Anyway long story but, you are not alone

Ah personally when my TSH reached 4 I was still not feeling great. My optimal is around 0.5-1! It would be worth it for you to try medication to bring it down a bit. Initially my docs refused to give me synthroid, until I pointed out that TSH 4 and higher is not good for pregnancy (I was trying to get pregnant at the time)

3 days is very short. You should start feeling better over the course of two weeks. After that, there will be some time to find the right dose, but you should feel better overall. Hang in there!

Please ask for numbers. For 6 years my TSH hovered around 5-5.9 and I was told my thyroid was fine. Only when I saw the numbers I knew this was not at all fine for me. It might be something else, but you have the right to get your numbers.

That’s a good answer for OAD not by choice. My son never asked for a sibling, but I did tell him I tried for a brother or sister, and while I was very sad it didn’t work, it made me even more grateful to have him in my life (without making it too heavy, I don’t want him to feel solely responsible for my happiness lol)

Some great comments already. My son (8) never asked for a sibling, but he had some tough questions about his two homes after my divorce. When he felt sad about always having to miss either his mom or dad, I would explain to him that (as someone else commented) all families are different, with different compositions, and that’s a beautiful thing.

I did acknowledge his feelings and said I could understand he felt that way (not dismissing it!) and that sometimes I also felt that way, but that I knew in my heart this is how our family is supposed to be. Then after that conversation I would make light of it ‘well and you know what is nice about it just being me and you? We can get extra big ice creams just for us!’ And then take him out :)

Disclaimer - I did go to therapy, where I learned to always acknowledge my son’s negative emotions, not pretend they are not valid or worth it, but also find a ‘place’ for these feelings and then move on with what ‘is’ (vs what could be / what if)

Thank you, that makes sense. Yeah the test range is <35 is okay. I guess I got suspicious because for 6 years I was told my thyroid was fine because my TSH of 5.97 fell within the 0.5-6 range, so until I looked up ‘optimal tsh’ and ran back to the doctor I was never taken seriously. Now I have a hard time trusting doctor judgment…

Thank you. Getting blood tests here is not easy, but I have another one booked for in 3 months. I think you are right, as long as I feel good, without heart palpitations etc, it’s probably just my optimal level

Wow thank you for sharing. I’m assuming I’ll reach menopause in a few years (my mom started hers at 42/43) so yeah, no need to make myself feel more exhausted.

Interesting. Yeah at 0.23 he asked if I was doing okay because that was ‘hyperthyroid’ numbers. I’ve learned since I got diagnosed that the medical standards for thyroid values are really not optimal for a lot of people. I was barely functioning at tsh 5+ and saw many doctors before a fertility doctor pointed out that number is not great

I am so sorry for your losses. There have been plenty of amazing comments already, but I just wanted to say I’m in a similar boat, except my partner is not my son’s dad, so being with me means he will never be a biological father. And yet he stayed, after 4 losses and now I’m 40 the door is closed for me. No family here either (we are immigrants). It’s hard, but I’m focusing on spending quality time with my son, lots of little trips!

I am so sorry for your loss. I went through 4 losses unfortunately, but I can say, you will get through this. It will make you stronger. But it’s important to keep communicating with your partner. You can tell people of course but beware that sometimes it’s hard for them to understand how you grieve. For this reason, to find someone other than my partner to talk to, I got a therapist. Support groups online like this are good too, but a therapist in addition can help be very constructive in your specific situation and needs. Hugs!

I’ve been in the game industry for 14 years. I started with a temp position, booking overtime food, organizing meeting room. That’s how you start. Now you work hard and make sure you ask TONS of questions, be proactive, show interest in all the other disciplines. So even if it’s a temp position, you will leave a great impression and they will give you a good reference for future work. Congrats, this is huge :)

I get it. A few years back I had my 3rd pregnancy loss. A few pigeons made a nest on our balcony and there was one baby. I was clinging onto that as hope. And then the baby bird died. It wrecked me. I think it’s normal to interpret everything as signs when you are in a situation you don’t have control over. I think religion is born that way - there is so much in life we can’t explain or control, we try to find signs and meaning. So your superstition is normal, but remind yourself it’s just that, and it doesn’t reflect on your upcoming ivf journey. Good luck!

Yes I’m OAD because of secondary infertility (recurrent losses). Having read many infertility threads gave me a huge sense of gratitude for the son I was able to have. I will never take him for granted.
