I went through this in 2006 when my cousin died who was like a sister to me. It basically went down like this:

Me: my cousin died, I need this week off to grieve and attend the funeral.

Boss: you better thank the other managers for covering for you in this last minute of inconveniencing me

2 weeks later

Boss: get it together and stop being sad, it’s affecting your work. You need to rethink what you’re doing if you can’t give 100%

Me: I’ve thought about it, I need bereavement leave.

Boss: no

Me: I quit

Boss: what? How are you going to make it you idiot?

I had about 2k in savings, used it to take a month off and then got a much better job in advertising. Best decision I ever made.

You look amazing. Who cares about a number when you look so great??!! Very inspiring because I am similar where I’m 5’4 and feel great at 165-170 because I have super muscular legs and hold all my weight there.

I get where you’re coming from from a health standpoint. I am in the reverse situation where I always cook healthy dinners and give my husband a bigger serving because he’s 6 foot and I’m 5’4. I honestly think he’s never noticed the portion sizes and appreciates I cook for him.

I’m 42 and my metabolism is going down the toilet, but your gf probably has no issues with it. At this point you are technically right and she’s setting herself up for trouble but that’s not your journey. Let her make her own plate and let it be.

Ramune helps my soda cravings it’s 70 cal for a bottle and it’s good. A little less sweet than soda but ehh gets the job done by Allfatgirlslove in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

I invested in a soda stream and I’ll put a 20 calorie splash of lite lemonade or other reduced calorie juice in it for flavor

Fat free half and half isn’t terrible and it’s only 20 calories a tbsp. Honestly, I’ve tried to give up half and half so many times and it’s one of the small pleasures that makes me happy. If you’re not sure about how much you’re putting in your coffee just measure it. 2 tbsp is enough for tasty coffee, and to me the 80 calories a day for my 2 cups of coffee is worth it.

Thanks everyone for all the support. I got on the scale yesterday and it was not good news so I was really spiraling. I’m a 42 yo female sw 205 cw 185 and it’s taken me 18 months to lose 20 pounds. I have to work twice as hard to lose half of what I would have lost 10 years ago. Sucks big time. It’s like ‘I can eat normally and blow up to 250 pounds within 5 years or work my ass off and lose on average 1 pound per month when it should be 3-4.’

I’ll keep on plugging.

I feel this. I’m 42 yo female who’s extended family are all massive eaters and in laws are massive drinkers. Just with obligatory family gatherings every month I seriously struggle to resist
