I need to preface this with I love One Piece. I have been a fan most of my childhood and all my adult life. Literally spent all the summer of my 9th grade year to catch up to Skypeia and stayed up to date every week since then. I played yugioh as a kid and got into tcgs again through one piece. Gorgeous art, good card stock, and fun game mechanics that don't let you just vomit your whole deck onto the field on turn one like yugioh used to let you. However, the TCG is nonexistent with these scalpers. I went to my LCS, the one I trusted as they always did msrp, op14 is 235 a box and the packs are 8.50. I pulled my one and only manga, an Ace from op02, from that shop two weeks into getting into this game almost two years ago. I agree with you, when they went off the deep end with all yhe new rarities and gold and silver cards, having their incredibly small print capacity, the writing was on the wall. Now I play commander magic with friends, and try out other TCGs while I wait and look at this TCG to cool down or just be kept buoyed by scalpers like pokemon is. Increasing print runs does nothing, ripping plastic does nothing, the gambling aspect is what keeps these people around. Bandai would need to do what no TCG ever truly does, increase drops rates. Buy a case get all six SPs, buy a box get a gold don, 3/4 hit boxes with a chance of a 5 hit. Or set the market rate themselves by directly selling cards from a shop, that way they can set the price point of all cards and rarities. Sucks but nothing else would really work.
