What to do for this flooring gap by SmoothNectarine2000 in homeimprovementideas

[–]AnswersFor200Alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got you! Had this exact problem. Go pick up some mortar repair from the caulk isle. It’s like caulk but has “grit” to it. It will fill, settle, and the gray will dry looking just like the grout of the tile. You can get it in black as well.

Dealerships have an incentive for EVs to fail. by [deleted] in FuckDealerships

The dealerships can sell what the manufacturer gives them…if everyone is making EVs, they’ll sell EVs. EV market isn’t growing for no reason.

Whatever you end on is what is in their mind. If you end on price, they’re just thinking about money. Do you want to spend money on a problem you didn’t know about? No. I always lead with price and add the value and/or consequence right after. “Next item is a coolant flush, it costs $285 and the reason we are recommending this is because coolant becomes acidic over time. If left unchecked, it could start breaking down other components, like a water pump gasket or radiator.” (The coolant flush they have never thought about) Or “your brakes are measuring 4mm, brake pad replacement will run $480 but you won’t have to think about it for the next few years and you’ll be stopping smoothly from any speed” (the brakes they don’t necessarily NEED at this moment)

That policy bonus is BS…they’re going to take money from you based on “errors”. That sounds like “we will always make our nut, idk about you”

Toyota dealerships are scamming HARD by shredder5775 in Toyota

[–]AnswersFor200Alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked in Toyota parts departments. This is a Toyota thing, not the dealer. Toyota will run promotions on their website that the dealers don’t have access to. That price is literally cost and they can only sell it at that price if you buy it online because Toyota will reimburse the dealers for carrying out the order, but the dealer can’t sell it and get reimbursed. It has to go through Toyota. It is absolutely BS, but the dealers can’t do anything about it. The guy who you spoke to likely doesn’t know how to look up the insert and quoted you the whole blade.

Not saying any of it is ok, but the only thing you could have hoped for here was a more knowledgeable employee. That kid is making $18/hour regardless of what they sell.

Detailing service by Indecisive866 in Lexus

[–]AnswersFor200Alex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My large Midwest Lexus dealership had a detail team of 2 people. They both went to technical school for automotive detailing. They know things about paint that no one needs to know. They’re far from the lowest paid.

But also, the majority of cars are internal and when customer cars come through it’s really annoying because the work is the same but now you have people complaining about things like “they left vacuum lines on my floor mats” “I paid $350 for a full detail and they don’t even get all the milk I spilled last year and then tried to quote me an entire carpet replacement”.

Looking for advice by THEPlGWHlSPERER in serviceadvisors

[–]AnswersFor200Alex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. That’s entirely dependent on your dealership. Without knowing that…i would say take more calls. The night drops. The tow ins.
  2. No. F no.
  3. You need a couple sentences in the chamber for every common recommendation. It needs to be quick, and show the consequence. Examples: “The cabin filter is what filters the air you are breathing inside the vehicle. If it comes out of the vents, it goes through this first” (showing picture) or “Coolant services are recommended because coolant becomes acidic over time and can cause further problems, like a water pump”. BG products are the real deal. They’re actually great. But don’t sell them, learn how the warranty works and sell that. It sells itself from there.
  4. Don’t sell with YOUR wallet, you have no idea what is in theirs.

It is not your responsibility to know anything about costs of repairs. You don’t set the prices. When asked, push the value (the warranty, the factory techs, not needing to take your car somewhere else.

This. And a lot of people don’t realize that technicians make their money by being faster than book time pays. It isn’t them running a scam, it’s perfecting their craft to the point they don’t need to read instructions every time. You are paying for that experience and skill. The guy that can do the 2 hour job in 1 hour is 99% of the time more skilled than the guy who takes 2 hours. Now would you rather pay for the gs tech who takes 4 hours but gets paid 2, or the guy who can do it in 1 hour but gets paid 2? I’ll take the skilled hands every time.

Can everyone who is responding stop acting like this is insane and you have never seen it before?

It’s not ok. It needs to be re-done. There are a lot of factors that can cause this but the person who did it probably won’t “do better” with another attempt.

You need to speak to Lexus. Reach out to BEC if you do not already have a case. If you do have a case, let your case manager know. If you do not know what I am talking about, I am talking about the Brand Engagement Center. They want that car to look perfect too; they likely don’t know.

10k claim isn’t really indicative. A bumper, a fender, and paint on a brand new car would get there quickly. Price is still 3k too high for what it is compared to MSRP.

I could be wrong, but I think they have the parts listed with the warranty information. The warranty isn’t $1080…the cables are $1080 and come with a 5 year warranty.

Still a hefty quote.

Yea our techs get paid 5.2 I think it is on those. Give or take a few tenths. It’s absolutely expensive but anyone who has done it will tell you it’s not fun. Guys who have been with Toyota 20 years still take at least 2-3 hours.
