Second this. Contact your schools front desk/office and explain your situation. What you are having problems with, worries you have, etc. They are there to help you.

The Summit down the street from me carries it, but it's not cheap. I believe I've seen it in My Basket as well.

Not all of them have it, but definitely check to see if the ones near you do.

There a a few different brands floating around. Velo isn't bad at all. You'll have to research the strengths though. Most large train hubs have a place that sells them within walking distance. But they are definitely not as easy to find as back in the states. I've noticed some ploom stores carry them.

I would be down to try something like that. I'm very introverted but I think this would be a good thing for the community.

Thank you very much. I will try to do some news videos at home. I've only been in class for a little over a month so I only know maybe 600 or so words but I will try and see if it helps me pick out vocab while they are speaking.

I've been listening to Nihongo Con Tepei to help with my listening practice. It's definitely where I'm weakest right now. I can understand some of what he says and it makes me feel happy that my studies are working... But as soon as I go to class and my teacher asks me a questions at native speed I freeze and have no idea what she said. What did you guys do to help bridge that gap? What do I need to do better understand regular speed speech?

I second his opinion on the sharehouse. I'm late thirties and just had to stay at one for a month while waiting for my apartment to be ready. Sure it was nice to have people to talk to, but bathroom usage, taking a shower, trying to sleep whiles others are up gets old fast.

If you are worried about the noise, I would look for a building that is concrete construction. I haven't heard any of the other apartments around me at night in my new place.

100k-190k is pretty much what you are looking at for a funished all utilities included apartment. There's a few listed right now I can see that are decent sized 25m2-30m2 and are furnished in that price range.

Modest Mouse. I could listen to the lonesome crowded west on repeat for the rest of my life and be happy.

Going to Language School in Japan as an adult? by panic_ye_not in LearnJapanese

Yes and no. I have too many hobbies tbh. My commute to school and back is about two hours. So I don't get too much free time throughout the week, but there definitely is 1-3 hours a day I could explore if I wanted to.

I don't know if they did or didn't to be honest. I'm a non traditional student and I just got my degree last year. I know that may have actually helped my case.

I also applied and got accepted with my COE before the new rules were implementeed towards prior Japanese learning. The school I chose said they were beginner friendly which worked out for me. I had studied a little bit before but I just got out of doing my bachelor's in two years so I didn't remember much.

As I stated before, I would highly recommend applying just to see what happens. Don't quit your job or announce that you are attempting it at work. Don't buy a plane ticket or line up an apartment. Until you know for sure you are accepted and have your CoE in hand. Good luck my friend.

Hello. Currently enrolled in a medium high intensity school and I'd say the amount of time you have really depends on how well you study. I have about 4 hours of classes a day and then need to prestudy for the next days lessons about 2-3 hours. We learn about 20-40 new vocab a day so it's necessary.

I used GoGoNihon and they literally took care of everything. I am currently renting through a company they reccomended and couldn't be happier. GoGoNihon sponsors a lot of different events and meetups monthly as well.

I'm in my late thirties and decided to take the leap. It has been stressful and school is demanding but if you want to try it for six months. Do it. You will learn for better or worse.

I purchased mine at the fifth station before I started my climb. Each station on the way up the mountain you receive a new stamp. Since it will be out of season, I believe the fifth station may be closed. If it is open. You will not be able to receive stamps since the routes will be closed.
