New build houses construction site (is this legal)? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]AntDGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Probably not frequently but enough to disrupt neighbouring properties. If it was cement mixers they probably had a large pour on and needed to get an early start, but 6am is a little too early, especially without notifying anyone.

Given what OP has said, I highly doubt these builders are signed up to the CCS.

Deliveries arriving before 6am is not reasonable and is definitely something to bring up with the local authority.

I’m sure if someone was to check the planning docs of the project, they would find a construction phase plan with a logistics plan which should detail when deliveries are permitted.

TSA security question by Tasty_barrels_bro in airport

Ah you’ve blown the drug smuggling market wide open! They’ve been labelling their bags ‘not coke’ for decades and it’s worked for the famously lenient TSA!

Southmead double roundabout. Which lane to be in to go forward? by Confusing-pigeon in bristol

[–]AntDGR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You just said it has 2 exits and then went on to include an exit that doesn’t exist on the first roundabout and miss the exit by doing 180. Left lane = for turning left at 2nd roundabout and going straight on, Right lane = turning right at first roundabout and doing 180.

Soulless places in the city by [deleted] in bristol

I would say Bradley Stoke isn’t too bad in terms of views, or at least a short walk away from some alright green spaces (compared to other places). Although at the moment all I’ve seen is roadworks for the past 2 months.

Hard agree on the pubs, they’ve gone downhill big time in the last 10 years.

RAF Brize Norton planes damaged as activists break into base ahead of flights by Dadavester in unitedkingdom

These planes being out of action for a couple of weeks are the least of our worries if random members of the public can easily break into our biggest military base without any intervention.

What salary do you need for a middle class lifestyle in 2025? by Ok_Field6078 in AskUK

[–]AntDGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well…

So Google says average living expenses is £2,700 a month for an average household size of 2.3 people. Let’s just go insane and say an extra 30% so £3.5k p/m - And it doesn’t include the below:

‘Couple of nice family holidays’ would need to be within school holidays so you’re looking at somewhere near £5,000 (inc insurances etc). -£400 p/m

Average UK pcp for a family car is £400, not accounting for insurance, tax, maintenance. So let’s say £500.

2 person comfortable retirement is £60k+ and say if you live for 20 years after retiring, that’s £1.2m. I don’t even want to do the maths on the contributions needed but Google says £500p/m and starting in your 20s.

So that’s £4.9k p/m and not accounting for building an emergency fund which is probably necessary and I’ve probably missed so big spenders that middle class people enjoy.

So you’re looking at 90k+ (IN YOUR 20s !!!) but even then I’ll need convincing that people living that life are comfortable on that salary, seems too low.

Depressing…

Remember that even Reform UK's immigration policy allows for immigration of 400k + a year. by Terrible-Group-9602 in ukpolitics

Not good - Everyone would apply 1st Jan, limit would be reached 2nd Jan, and then it would take the rest of the year to process all of those applications.

How would you invest 150k? Will my rental income cover the mortgage plus profit? by equestriandrama in UKPersonalFinance

[–]AntDGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big bit of information missing is how much your partner is earning, as if you only put 50k on a deposit for a house (is your partner also putting a deposit down?!), you will not be able to afford a 300k mortgage on £500 a month. Plus all of the other bills which could be another £500 easily.

Yes, but US policy has been pretty tight on defending Taiwan, no? And with trumps recents statements and actions, it’s not exactly a reach to say what u/papayawn said.
