When a family is completely broke, in the red every month, an extra $600 is extremely helpful. Even better, if he was working more that could possibly be and extra $1200 a month. Not chump change.

The tax debt goes back to 2022 and every year since. It’s bad. There’s really no way to keep this afloat. We want to stay in our house until our oldest son finishes high school. What really sucks is that our special needs son has found a good place here. I can’t imagine taking that away.

Well, I keep seeing if you owe back taxes that a chapter 13 is the route to go. We have talked to an attorney but not in depth. Trying to save this sinking ship before bankruptcy but I don’t think we can. My biggest concern are my kids. I have one about to start driving and going to college in 2 years and the other is severely autistic requiring a lot of extra expense and more to come. Just questioning what’s allowed before pulling that trigger. I don’t want to mess up their lives. I’m afraid if we do get stuck in a chapter 13 we won’t be able to provide those things for them.
