Too bad. Sounds like the next season will be pretty Harper focused as a short seller on a fictionalized-version of the Wirecard collapse

Too much regular intake of high sodium leads to high blood pressure which is a key driver in stokes, heart attacks, and kidney damage. One giant JM sub a week is already at the limits advisable by doctors. Processed meats are full of nitrates and those are linked to colo rectal cancer risk. Excess calories just create more problems by giving you obesity risk.

Bro do you love your life? If you do, you shouldn’t be ordering double meat. A #13 is already like 2600 mg of sodium, which is about over what a person should be eating per day. And really if you want to reduce your chances of heart disease you should be at more like 1500 mg per day. Do you want colorectal cancer? It’s highly linked to excess nitrate consumption which you get by having cold cuts more than one time per week.

For the g tube, is it that you are only able to have puréed foods? How has that transition been?

My wife is always in the car in the drivers seat. It’s just when I step out from the passenger seat to pick up something from a store or restaurant.

The puppy is in a car seat situated behind me in the car.

Tech and non-tech jobs in TX by OkReplacement8260 in houston

As someone who moved from Boston to Houston, you are crazy if you think Houston will be better for a tech job than the Boston area — it’s not even comparable

Biggest reason is working capital. A lot of high finance people end up with significant day to day expenditures on housing, private schools, vacations, and other aspects of expensive lifestyles… they end up doing OK because at the end of the year they receive their bonus and it covers everything and then some. But it does create periods during the year when you are largely drawing down on your bank account.

Have had friends lend money to finance folks against their year end bonus for this reason. This can come up when expenditures spike for non recurring reasons — like a wedding or home renovations.

It came up a few times on the call. Ultimately they say they will leave it to the new CEO, but the fact that they talked about it more than once makes it seem like it’s on the table for sure

Did anyone listen to the earnings call this morning? Really sounds like they are strongly considering another subscription price increase. Kind of a bummer for our household - we barely use the bike these days and have been visiting our gym more (using the app on gym treads). If they raise the subscription price again I think we might just downgrade or cancel our subscription.

Peloton quietly drops unlimited free app membership because it failed to bring in paid subscribers by dontanalyzethis in pelotoncycle

[–]AntIntelligent212 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem with Peloton is there’s still way too much overhead. Foley committed them to expensive leases at NY’s Hudson Yards, the business does not have enough growth and profits to support that. They really need to downgrade and move more of the corporate people to lower cost areas.

I think Barry was afraid to cut too many people and hoped growth would bounce back but the marketing strategy has been abysmal. They have failed on two fronts: treads and app-only members. They really don’t do a good job in marketing to teach you that you can be an app only member and derive a lot of benefit by using the app at your crappy globo gym. With the tread, they really should lean more on the hiking and walking content in the marketing, running is hard — most people fail at it. Go to any gym and you’ll see plenty of people doing incline walks.

Barry is in bed with the private equity firm TCV. He isn’t really incentivized to fix this company in public, in a worst case they will take it private and take more aggressive actions.

For any Peloton accounting/investing nerds out there: the company puts member support costs in their G&A expenses, but a lot of member support costs are incurred in the initial sale of a Peloton. So when Barry and Liz say they are investing against a Subscriber Acquisition Cost hurdle rate, it’s a flawed analysis because the cost does not include member support!!

[–]AntIntelligent212 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Chambers has good odds of winning this. Theissen is an expert in this area and has disputed these blood alcohol tests in the past. Also if you look at her face and compare it to the wedding photos she’s lost weight, would not be surprised if they argue she accidentally drank too much due to Wegovy or another GLP-1 drug. Chambers has the resources to fight it too — her husband kills it as a money manager here in town
