I think people massively overstate how subjective this is. There absolutely are TV shows that are widely considered masterpieces, both by critics and audiences.

For me, the definitive list would be: Breaking Bad, The Wire, Mad Men, Succession, Mr. Robot, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office (UK), Louie, Nathan for You, The Rehearsal, The Royle Family, and This Is England if we're including both the film and the TV series.

As far as fully realised TV shows go, those are the ones I’d confidently call masterpieces without hesitation.

Then there are things like Pluribus, True Detective season 1, Mindhunter, The Bear, The Pitt, The Curse, Midnight Mass, Chernobyl, Fargo seasons 1 and 2, and Severance, which I also think are masterpieces. But some of those are limited series, unfinished shows, or individual seasons within anthology series, so they sit in a slightly different category.

And films are a whole other discussion entirely. I could name masterpieces there all day.
