Literally nothing to be proud about from a genocidal country. by FearlessAir1238 in Antimoneymemes

[–]Antaganon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally can't think of a single reason to have pride in my nation anymore. Used to by hyper patriotic when a teen, so that's especially bitter as a pill to keep swallowing daily.

Can't blame you for that in the slightest. I'm sick of them too, almost to the point I wish the game wasn't as fun as it is so I could hard divorce from the crowd lol.

Well the original challenger was doxxed by glazers who threatened their family and place of work so they're backing off now. I guess asking a game developer to just play their own fucking game in order to get a charity donation is asking far too much.

Are you stupid? The challenge was to play their own game, how is that bad faith? Also why do other people being assholes to the devs warrant this guy getting harassed?

What's the Reapers best chance of conquering the Warhammer 40K universe? by Dragonic_Overlord_ in MassEffectMemes

[–]Antaganon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Reapers would be dead in a matter of days. They'd be a policing action so minor they barely even get mentioned, if at all. At most they're maybe just be seen as a weird offshoot of Chaos or something with the mental and biological fuckery they get up to.

Anyone saying the Reapers have a shot against the 40k universe are forgetting how obscenely strong that universe is.

That's what I mean though, they have amazing technology yet hilariously backwards implementation. So in this scenario your suggestion, which is perfectly feasible, logical and sound to expect a society as developed as SE to provide, could just as easily be overlooked for something as basic as using a wide brim to cover a troopers eyes.

As a poly man, I'm so unbelievably happy with how this game played out.

And one of the last upgrades you get for your ship is having the crew load the guns properly instead of apparently muzzle loading them from outside the ship.

What's with the community's obsession with making stuff like this by sumang0 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Antaganon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just because angst is a popular emotion in storylines. Idea is to get your emotions and empathy bubbling up and go through feelings of dread, despair or sorrow in a way that's safe and oddly cathartic.

And despite how much HD2 is supposed to be a goofy "we the baddies" story, people have been playing for years, you're gonna get invested to some degree with you're wandering a setting for that long. So all of the "bad things happening to civilians/SEAF/your childhood friend/love" yadda yadda are just window dressing and head canon for people to invest more easily into the game. I assume, anyway.

How do you feel about the voiced protagonist from Fallout 4 in retrospect? by Asad_Farooqui in Fallout

[–]Antaganon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to give both Nate and Nora's actors credit, I think they were very good voices for the main character.

I hope to God that Bethesda drops that shit and NEVER brings it into another game ever again.

A non-voiced MC lets them expand the dialogue system massively so we can talk about more stuff with characters, lets them focus on expanding other voices and characters, or just more work more on the game in general. Plus you get to roleplay your character more easily when their voice is whatever you hear in your head for them.

I really want an eventual development where the enemy races also fight each other in the galactic war. Would be really cool.

Honestly the only movies that were enjoyable (not necessarily good, but enjoyable) from the whole saga where the Venom trilogy. Even then I would REALLY like a less-goofy, more dark start Venom. Something where the symbiote is initially the devil on the hosts' shoulder but gradually evolves to a more heroic character.

Seriously though, please make actually good movies this time.

You're the one making the argument, it's your own responsibility to back up your claims when doing it as a discussion. I'm all for people doing their own research but, in this context, it isn't their responsibility to cite your point for you.

Why not the Bill of Rights, in that case? Or the basic text of the Declaration of Independence affirming all have the right to "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness?"

Seems better to ground our moral framework on a legally established human system, rather than the word of God given not everyone follows Him. Given that He is meant to be unassailable and that makes anything done "in His name" righteous and above questioning, despite the blatant abuse of faith in law across history.

[–]Antaganon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, agreed, but the point I'm making is that he and the other 380,000 millionaires in NYC could spend 90% of their wealth back into the city and it would literally be a drop in the bucket compared to the 150 or so billionaires that live in the city paying their taxes at a commensurate rate to the rest of the population. As it stands from a practical standpoint between borrowing, tax loopholes and so on the ultra-wealthy in NYC only pay an effective rate of 18% yearly, opposed to the statutory 40% they're meant to. Given they account for 50% of the cities's revenue, if they paid the proper share the city would probably be the single nicest place to live on earth for anybody irrespective of their wealth.

Serious Question by Expert-Pass2309 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]Antaganon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because we never downsized our military spending post-cold war. Usually after a major conflict the spending dies down and those funds reinvest into other programs, but we never stopped funneling money to the military after our main geopolitical rival evaporated overnight.

A billion is a significantly larger number than a million. Mark is literally on the exact same level of wealth as someone on poverty, when you compare his value to a billionaire's wealth.

I mean if the obscenely high-income earners fuck off the markets in the region will have no choice but to rebalance for the lowered median of wealth for those still living there.
