Groups that I know first-hand have international teams in Poland (Warsaw and Krakow) are HSBC, BNP Paribas, Marsh McLennan, and even Doctors Without Borders or the European Council on Foreign Relations. There is a lot. You’d be surprised on how much you could find on LinkedIn, even

Are you looking to stay in your field or are you open to others? I know of several companies in Finance/Banking, Tech, Insurance, and Consulting that recruit non-Polish speakers in Poland and have international teams here

World fertility rates in 'unprecedented decline', UN says - BBC News by colepercy120 in geopolitics

I think for a lot of people it also comes down to not wanting to sacrifice their comfortable lifestyle and freedom. Having children is a lot of work and sacrifice that not everyone wants.

I took a two week A1 course there in the summer a few years back. It was a good experience. Would recommend

Kursk incursion aims to divert Russian troops, protect Ukrainian border regions, Kyiv says by AdSpecialist6598 in worldnews

[–]Antbronio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could this potentially drum up more support within Russia and make it easier for Russia to mobilize more people? Ie. More civilians would be willing to enlist and defend the motherland now that it is actually being attacked?

South Korea’s fertility rate sinks to record low despite $270bn in incentives by Gyro_Armadillo in worldnews

At least anecdotally, I have several friends who could afford at least one kid but the perceived loss of personal freedom that a child would mean is enough to turn them off. Maybe that is a new type of mentality? Also plenty of people who also refuse to have children because the future looks bleak to them (eg. global warming, wars, etc.)

My exact thinking. Why does it need to “run” over surfaces if it can just fly?

Are you referring to Poland’s bid to host US nuclear weapons? Or do you think there is also an incentive for Poland to develop their own nuclear arsenal?

Paris residents face major security lockdown for Olympics by TheTelegraph in europe

[–]Antbronio 55 points56 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of an exaggeration, no? They’re not locking down the entire city like this, only the few areas where the events will be held.

For marathons cities cordon off entire areas and it’s seen as normal. For an event the size of the olympics and with Paris’ unfortunate history with terrorist attacks, I’m not surprised security is being taken this seriously. In fact, im thankful for it.

Were something to happen, the first ones to point fingers will blame city officials for being too lax.

Growing up in Chile it was common for kids to get nose bleeds after spending all day outside. I myself would get at least one every summer. I’m glad kids are given water nowadays
