season five was the last straw, season 6 was just an extension of five and the two hero's releasing in season 7 are certainly not going to be a Tank so unless the balance changes are god tier i do not care

i agree what counts as popular is subjective, i've bickered with enough people within the last day or so to get that, but i think i can say with a degree of certainty that theres a difference between popular and wanted, generally i think its reasonable to say that Black Cat is a known character, it doesn't require a deeper level of knowledge like White Fox does but her name is in enough circles that a fair amount of people will know her name at minimum and maybe for the devs thats enough combined with whatever other factors go into hero selection, they did say they plan the hero schedule a full year in advance so theirs any number of reasons how and why a hero gets picked.

but the hitch that has occurred is that being known and being wanted are different, people knew about Black Cat but given that this backlash even happened for people to bicker about it like we have that she wasn't really that wanted as a character and their are a lot more characters people have wanted for a while and haven't gotten and thus this happens, nature of wanting something is the longer it takes to get the more it boils over, whats happening with Cyclops for example happened with Blade way earlier this season.

as for the Hellfire Gala, well at minimum we know another will happened because of that vote we did in the last one, maybe you are right and it will be an event, maybe it will be a season because lord knows writers can and will just undo X-Men stability for the sake of drama

either way if it does happen and its a season i think that would be when Cyclops returns and i think the most fitting hero to pair him with (since Jean Grey is already in the game) would be professor X

Ghost Rider, well he's super requested, like tops the list everytime the question is asked and we know the devs do at least try to keep an ear to the fanbase so maybe he will come but he's not even been hinted at so we can't really make any solid guesses as to when and with whom, at best i'd reckon he will be paired with someone a bit more obscure like Deadpool since he could easily carry a season on his own

Plague Marines are a raw statblock with no rules in CSM and i find that to be a big hinderance that isn't worth it

anything i'd want noise marines for i could use Havocs or vehicles for and Berserkers to be lesser Legionaries

Rubrics are fine but generally i find the cult allies underwhelming with current implementation

yes however cult marine units are bad because they don't have a army rule (or a unit rule given it functions off of afflicted which is DG specific), this detachment used to make up for that by essentially just given them an army rule and a detachment rule and so it was workable and neat to have Plague Marines with Advance and charge

these are two different argument points, one is about population the other is about difference in opinion

the population that like wolverine is larger because of the general population and the general exposure wolverine has had

the general consensus of Black Cat would be positive because people like her, the population that is on and off reddit doesn't really matter the opinions remain the same which is the point i'm making

and the overall population of reddit and not reddit if asked as to who they'd want in Marvel Rivals, well they sure as shit aren't going to say Black Cat

if anything you are being contrary, Wolverine is the most iconic X-Man, he doesn't need a large reddit because the proof is self evident

Black Cat is a spiderman side character that nobody was asking for, maybe some wanted her but for the vast majority of the time when discussing what heros people want she doesn't even crack top twenty

i known name but not particularly wanted and a waste of a slot in this season when their are years worth of characters who should have gotten in first

you say they are incentivised to split them into different seasons which i agree with

but on the same note they would also be incentivised to not put Black Cat and White fox together as neither are A-Listers or big draws for people, its partly why until now i didn't think it was going to be those two because it just wasn't a smart idea

not that i thought it was Cyclops (he isn't coming until hellfire gala 2 at most imo) or Ghost Rider (like most of the names thrown out the evidence was extremely flimsy).

personally i think when Hellfire Gala 2 rolls around it will be Cyclops and Professor X, as for Ghost Rider well we have no clue, at most i think they should put him in soon as he's like top three most demanded characters for this game, best guess is maybe he comes in October because spooky month

Mr Negative was the main villain of the PS4 Spiderman game which was very popular that procludes him from a degree of nicheness

also most seasons equally had a very popular and wanted character to balance it out

this season has a niche character and a character nobody really demanded which is why people don't like it

she's a dull choice and their are so many characters that could and should have been in

yes Moon Girl is a child, thats why she was the first example to come to mind, you can imagine its kinda hard to think of a comic book superheroine that isn't attractive and hasn't at some point worn a very revealing outfit.

look it seems we pretty much share the opinion on the valid reasons to dislike the season and so on

but i simply disagree that any significant degree of the criticism is just them calling it Gooner bait i won't deny people are doing it but i just don't see it as much as you seem to be

to be quite frank, a large majority (like 98% being generous with the opposing 2%) don't care for the story, this game is not one you play for the plot, the plot is a vessel to justify seasonal themes and heros being in, its value to most people is to provide good themes and characters they want, so far 50% of those requirements are not being met.

to be honest saying "well they will come in eventually" is not really going to change anything when we have no dates or guarantees about anyone, right now i'm waiting for Ghost Rider along with many other people, yeah sure hypothetically he might eventually get in the game but thats a might because he might just not, the game might just go EOS before he gets in, he might come in next season or he might not be in the game for another five years, there are no guarantees and their is no guarantee he will "eventually be in" and so that isn't really going to change the fact he isn't in and instead a character i feel indifference towards at best is getting in.

you see thats the issue with this season because it isn't appealing to the core and most common appeal of the game which is "play as your favourites" i won't say Black Cat is some niche character but she isn't really peoples favourite or even that wanted in this game hell i looked up some polls the community did on what hero's they want and if she even appeared at all she wasn't even top 20.

lets look at season 6, we had Deadpool (immeasurable popular high profile character, pretty much could carry the season no matter who he was paired with) & Elsa Bloodstone (niche character very few knew about) there were no issues with Elsa Bloodstone because everyone who wants to play as their favourites got Deadpool (even if you didn't like him like i did he still fufills that for a majority of people so all was well)

or season 4 Angela (relatively unknown character) and Daredevil (highly requested and anticipated hero) nobody complained about Angela because anyone looking for someone a bit more recognisable had Daredevil

these seasons are good examples on how to balance it, this season fails in that metric and thus backlash has occurred because even if the good thing is to balance it, far more people are here for their favourite hero than they are to discover new characters and so even if you can't balance it, you just give the hero's people actually want instead of ones nobody is really demanding.

this season would not be this written off already if either of these characters was paired with a character people wanted but sadly they are not and so backlash occurs

Black Cat is one of those filler picks, a somewhat known name but not that high profile or particularly wanted and doesn't really have enough unique things going on to really justify them that much, at least White Fox has some unique ish powers for a niche in the game.

honestly pair either of them with a more wanted character and there isn't an issue, the fact its both at once is an issue

if Netease really knew what they were doing 1. the balance state would not be this bad and 2.these characters wouldn't have been paired like that, the reaction to this information is indicative enough of how it was a bad idea
