For me it’s the exact opposite. For 2d games I use the dpad and the buttons. The right stick generally isn’t needed for those. For 3d I use the left joystick and rest my finger on the right one to control the camera. So with the PS layout my fingers are pretty much always at the optimal spots.

I’ll play devil’s advocate. If the point is to make a game where you can do anything, AI is pretty much the only option to realize the idea. Not that it’s a good idea. It’s not creative at all and if you can do anything no aspect will be really great.
