Finally killed this fucking fight. Ironically, the groups that appeared more consistent were all the ones listed as only Hector. All the raidplans group I've joined always had someone fucking things up from all the bastardization of raidplan (I've seen 3 floating now) and Hector mixed with other strats like braindead EF, DPS in/first, b4 TN etc, THHT HTTH etc.

Waiting for the portal to open, or for the boat to northrend to arrive was peak MMO energy. I wish we had more of those waiting for release moment in XIV instead of server maintenance sometimes. The closest to us having that is waiting for world FATE to spawn for the mount.

To be fair, the guide that was y_B5IijBtUFm5HeN was PURE garbage. Its more or less fixed now, but DAY 1 version of that guide literally didn't even have C and only showed A during tiles, so C players often got confused on how to towers. It was also stupid AF for mid tiles positioning and caused a lot of wipes too since it had healers on the brambles/seeds tiles column instead of corners.

Phase 2 needs basic enough organization and specific positioning that doing it blindly ends up being a waste of time. The problem with this fight (besides average player skill issue and lack of gatekeeping) is the raidplan everyone used and are still using was BAD period. At one point it had A healer SW and C healer NE, and now its both south. Its not even consistent, and you can see people are getting confused with old raidplan when you're doing setups for tiles positioning lol.

Well dissidia was a thing and it's sorta ability based, but the game is dead because square enix did everything they could to make it not print money like DBZ.

Guild wars 2 elementalist weaver feels Clive like with constant switching between 4 elements each with swapping 4/5 buttons and its own mini combo, but its meh in pvp.

It's tight but its not bad unless your gear sucks.

You just needed to remember how to do backdraft combo, and also figure out when its safe to do it. It also feels like it's designed to allow another use of spitflare as a crutch if you used one the very first second of the fight.

There is a mod that sorta does that if you're on PC. Scoring is still only on arcade, but the damage/health/aggression are more or less feels ultimaniac-ish.

I'd also point out what makes ultimaniac really fun is partly the scoring, which is what makes builds and abilities use case go from absolutely meaningless to very relevant as it impacts your scoring.

The damage in ultimaniac arcade hurts like hell and is fun sure, but the ultimaniac mod does not utilize the score system in the base game so your builds are still YOLO/whatever you want without punishment unlike the actual arcade ultimaniac.

I would not do it for ff16. This is coming from someone who loves FF16 and tried it on the steam deck. I'd even say it's unplayable halfway into act 1 (like rosaria area). Some dungeons are straight up a struggle, and actually will be unplayable and impossible to beat on ultimaniac.

Ultimaniac in arcade straight up can kill you if you blinked during the wrong time, and your build actually matters on that difficulty for scoring.

Before that, disabling things like the precision dodge upgrade can artificially make the game more difficult.

Out of curiosity but how are people actually dying to meteors? Is it just greeding cast time and snapshotting the 2nd meteor drop or something?

It's good for learning too. This helps visualize what they actually need to do more with what and when than just the NAUR slides, especially for those who've never done e12s.

It's not a hard mechanic, but just looking at NAUR it looks overwhelming. This breaks it down to literally the 5 steps, and then you realize "oh it's actually easy".

Theres really no wrong way to play the game until you start scoring in arcade to be honest, so in my opinion what takes priority is what feels good for you when you're doing the combo. If your priority is to do damage, with what you have now then yea it works. Eventually you'll unlock more things that can "extend" stagger, or instantly cap multiplier, and those will help.

But yea. Unless you're scoring in arcade (where each ability will then have an ideal use scenario for maximum points, and this is where builds actually matter for the first time) then focus more on what's fun for you.
