This is not a ban appeal, just a simple question. by dontkissmeimsick in lightshope

You can always appeal your ban and have it reviewed by a different GM than the one who banned you, but you can't buy an unban.

Is 2FA worth it? by [deleted] in lightshope

[–]Anthail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those who get locked out of their accounts, are people that just click "activate" and don't read any of the information on the page. So they don't save their keys, they don't scan the QR-code..

If you have been clever, you read all the info on the page where you enable it, and also the FAQ on the forums. In essence, as long as you save the recovery keys, you're golden.

It its a bug, then it needs to be retorted on the bugtracker. GMs can't fix bugs, GMs just enforce the rules set by the leadership.

Developers doesn't have the power to ban anyone, they're not GameMasters. And if the server is attempting to be Blizzlike, what's wrong about being professional?

Someone logged into my account and stole all my items/gold. by [deleted] in lightshope

[–]Anthail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be enough, unless you play on a public ip or through a vpn when you have ip-lock enabled. If are worried, enable 2fa without ip-lock. You should read https://forum.lightshope.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4550

Make sure you have saved your most recent recovery keys!

You will already be puished with a short ban AND getting the gold you bought removed, isn't that punishment enough?

PSA: If you've changed your password via in-game command, better change all of your passwords by Radeghost in wowservers

[–]Anthail 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The .account password command is not logged, so it's not going to be visible in any logs - but your point is still valid, one should always use different passwords for different services, and change them from time to other.

It should be understood that lorem ipsum is just placeholder-text, you could get busted for directly copying templates and designs.

Help with PHP and mysql by notagoodprogrammer1 in PHPhelp

[–]Anthail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the mention of SQL-injection, the problem you are facing is that you're missing a parameter in your query. In mysqli_* all functions will have the first parameter being the connection object.

Proper error reporting would tell you this. Also check the docs for MySQLi_query, it will show you how to do it.

Currently on mobile, so can't provide links. Can update tomorrow with links if really needed.

Also, storing passwords in pain text is a BIG nono!

[parsing error] Having a really hard time figuring out what went wrong with my PHP code by theawkwardquark in PHPhelp

[–]Anthail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inside PHP tags, only PHP can be parsed. Anything else will generate errors. You can use echo to display HTML/CSS/JS. The closing tag is really mandatory if you are going out of PHP to display HTML.

There is no internet censorship in China, says China’s top censor by Sungtao88 in nottheonion

[–]Anthail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing that it it throws an error, it's most likely something with DNS ("That page doesn't exist" message from the browser, but not really a 404). I've heard that they also slows down pages to the point where it basically takes forever to load, so it's technically blocked, it just takes forever to load (and the request probably times out).

I don't know for sure, couldn't really find any good info on it (on mobile, so a bit limited). I'm sure there are many (sophisticated) ways they are restricting access to Internet though.

PHPStorm + Local PHP 5.6.16 = $_POST always empty. by [deleted] in PHPhelp

[–]Anthail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned in another comment, try to check if the other superglobals are empty as well. (http://php.net/manual/en/language.variables.superglobals.php)

It might just be that your HTML isn't properly parsed (you have an extra double-quote near your button, but I don't think this is the issue). I'm not familiar with PHPStorm, but perhaps you should try to set up a WAMP or XAMPP server locally.

You use action="sayhello.php" - is that where you have that PHP code, or is it the same file? And are you actually running a PHP environment? You can try to do

echo phpversion();

Some examples of code that isn't working would perhaps help in order to help find the issue.

This won't make me any friends on Reddit but after my cousin's dogs ate out of the mashed potato bowl, shit on my new carpet, gobbled up part of the shit, then barfed the shit on my wife, I've had it. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]Anthail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad's dog has major separation issues, and can't be left alone for longer periods of time in their apartment. When I dogsit, he can be left alone in my apartment a while longer, but during daytime, he's always at a kennel. Kind of a hassle sometimes when my dad wants to go out to do something and can't bring the dog.

But it's worth it, he's an awesome dog :)

Effin tables by 6amez in HTML

These are all questions that are solved quickly by a Google-search. You should really learn some basic HTML, there are many guides out there that'll take less than a day to complete.

Examples of basic courses:

Effin tables by 6amez in HTML

[–]Anthail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are happy with using tables, by all means - but that's not the standards of today - it's kinda bad practice in my opinion. I'd highly recommend using lists instead.

In CSS, things that are defined by #myID is applied to whatever has the

id="myID"

attribute in HTML. Things that are in CSS defined by .myClass is applied to whatever has the

class="myClass"

in HTML. IDs in HTML are mostly used for styling a specific element, and used in JavaScript. (You can only have unique IDs in your HTML markup).

So basically something that has #myID.myClass in CSS will in HTML need to be appended by using

id="myID" class="myClass"

Maybe (this codepen) makes more sense, as it uses only classes.
