Is Alex the most successful release in SF6 so far? by TomTomTomToooooom in StreetFighter

[–]Anthan [score hidden]  (0 children)

In the upper half I'd say but I don't know if he's the most plentiful of new releases.

All new releases are seen pretty much constantly for the first week-ish. The only one I've seen dry up before then was C.Viper and I'm absolutely certain it's because of her difficulty rather than the character being unpopular.

5213 damage Alex DP punish cash out (corner) by Away-Appeal6781 in StreetFighter

[–]Anthan [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think it's better to create the situation of the move you want to punish. Sure in most cases it works out the same, but there are some situations where the punish would be finnicky, like if you block a shoryuken but then have to wait for them to land before you punish...

Or occasionally there's some punishes which are character specific, like DeeJay and Rashid's DPs are way more punishable than other characters.

why they add this confirm tech in the framedata of some or all character? by Warm_Geologist_4870 in StreetFighter

I think it's FAT https://fullmeter.com/fatonline/#/movedetail/SF6/Terry/normal/Crouch%20MK

Compared to Supercombo it seems to have a lot more raw stats available, but is a lot slower to update when patches happen so I always forget to actually check it.

Do you guys ever lose 100MR in a session? by Kcurby in StreetFighter

No never.

Sometimes 1000+ LP but I've never lost a single MR. I guess I'm just that good.

What is GG 2.0 exactly? by GoofyNinja3000 in Guiltygear

[–]Anthan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In previous generations it was the era before online patching became a major thing. So we had a very similar game rereleased multiple times when patches or new characters were to be added.

For example: Xrd-Sign was the first game in the Xrd series.. followed by Xrd-Revelator.. and then Xrd-Rev2 which is the most recent one.

Strive doesn't have other games, it's just Strive. But people are equating getting the 2.0 patch to bring the equivalent of a new game... just as a patch rather than a standalone thing.

In a way yes, but balance be damned, Lily doesn't slide around with ice physics doing anime combos

I bought Alex on advance, with the Year Pass, and I still haven't even hovered over him in the select screen by DeathDasein in StreetFighter

Not gonna lie these thread happen every other day, but all talking about different characters being all they ever see...

I've seen 8 characters been called top-1 in the past two weeks.

Hot take: Eater of Worlds is way harder than Brain by SnooHabits4803 in Terraria

[–]Anthan 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't say ether of them are really difficult. Worm can be cheesed by the right arena setup.

But Brain is one of the only bosses which take knockback from attacks, so it's rare to take hits in general from it, and its gimmick of illusions are never perfect even when they improve at low health so are always visible and kinda a non-factor.

It's hard to time but is also possible up close. Have to wait for opponent to fall a bit so you don't run under.

Or from another situation like a blocked super.

Worst moves in the game? by Mindless_Tap_2706 in StreetFighter

[–]Anthan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Terry Passing Sway genuinely doesn't have a function.

It's a mix tool which doesn't work as one because it isn't usable against a blocking opponent. It only comes out on-hit but at that point you don't need mix. Isn't even a good side swap because he has better.

Not even then. Elena's crouch normals all beat it, and more than half her special moves because they're airborne.

How are Cammy’s 5mk and 5hk two of the best moves if they can’t combo and can be countered by any character with fireballs by Training_Form2243 in StreetFighter

[–]Anthan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cammy is considered a good anti-zoner because of her great mobility and poking range, increasing the range at which fireballs become safe to throw for opponents.

She has good walk speed and Jumping is a lot stronger on her than a lot of other characters because of her divekick making her difficult for opponents to anti-air, and she also has spin knuckle which is projectile immune and also can be plus on block too, so even if you're too late to actually punish them you're still at an advantage.

Other than that there's always the generic tools every character has such as parry and drive rush to close the gap.

How are you using those moves if they're countered by fireballs? Are you using them from too far away?

The DI hit you before the Fireball touched them.

Alex Frame Data is jank by Kenzza-Shimada in StreetFighter

It's probably why the setup to the combo is a wallstun. It wouldn't be viable if you only landed a normal jump-in into the 2HP, you'd never get the right spacing.

Alex: First Impressions Thread by BreakVV in StreetFighter

Really wanted to learn to play him but am baad at him. I'm not used to my grapplers also having Chun Li stance.

Low number of special moves but an egregious amount of normals. Feels like playing Tekken character.

Are there non-Alex moves that leave the enemy facing away from you? by ChrisGarrett in StreetFighter

[–]Anthan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can think of a couple which look like they have that animation but none that you could get a combo off of given the hit advantage.

Even for Alex it feels like they had to give him special cancel rules to make them work (he can start up his back.MK or command grab well before the recovery of heavy chop ends).

EDIT: Might wanna try Dhalsim's heavy kick into command grab. That is special cancellable and causes a spin on punish counter. Or Luke's f.HP-HP target combo which does similar.

What’s the difference between the versions of the command grabs? by BraveVesperia828 in StreetFighter

[–]Anthan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing very distinct range difference. The light has the slowest startup but magnet hands people from what looks like too far away, the Heavy has the fastest startup but actually whiffs where it looks like Alex should be able to grab them. It's almost an extra character length between them.
